That's fine if Freddy G is the center and Walker/Rossi are the wings. Not fine if Freddy G is trying to cover defensively as a winger.

Walker is the callup if top-6 winger is hurt, Khaia is the callup if it's a bottom-6 winger that's hurt.
Ehhh, I don’t think it matters as long as someone is covering defensively. I was mainly just giving Gaudreau a role so he looks important too lol. Rossi is fine at defense. Walker is fine there as well. I’d just like them to be more offense oriented.

So this is just a wishful thinking post. Got it.

Let’s say the goalies take a step back this year after a strong 22-23 season. Where do we think this roster would finish w/ league average goaltending?

Somewhere in the middle of the road, last year was a overperformance so I think they will be 5-15 points out of a playoff spot

I don’t think we take a step back. I think our forward group has only improved since the start of last season. So, I’ll say about the same as last year :)

Man that 3rd pair looks pretty ugly. As much as I’d like to see Brodin - Faber, I’m not completely against Brodin - Addison and then Merrill / Goli - Faber.

Addison’s play definitely hasn’t warranted playing in the top 4, especially next to guy assigned to the best players of the opposing team. I think Faber is the perfect guy amongst who we have to play a shutdown role with Brodin.

I hope we can dump our bottom pair LD when needed. The guys in Iowa will hopefully be pushing the roster very soon. Ideally, someone like Lambos would explode and be put next to Spurgeon. Then:

Lambos-Spurgeon
Brodin-Faber
Middleton-Spacek
Addison

Eventually we phase out Middleton for one of Peart/Hunt/O’Rourke as well.

Disgustingly premature contract for Zuccarello

I agree. He’s never going to fit here while we have Spurgeon IMO.

But I think a Merrill/Goli - Addison third pair has potential to be a major liability while Brodin - Addison would be a decent pair.

BG also confirmed that he's talking extensions with Hartman and Foligno. Heaven help us if he throws in NMC's to them too. How about waiting to see if Foligno pulls his head out of his butt first?

Well obviously the team doesn’t really see anyone in the pipeline that can do what Zucc can currently do. That’s not saying much for our pipeline

I don't think Hartman gets one but I wouldn't be surprised to see Foligno get one. He'll at least get a 10 team NTC.

I can't be too upset with Foligno. People got excited abut him because he scored at 20 goal pace two seasons in a row, but he also had a shooting% that was out of this world during it. Then last year he reverted to the 3rd-4th liner that he is, which I expected a year earlier than it happened, honestly.

As for his penalties in the playoffs, most of those were bad calls by the refs. That's not Foligno's fault. That said, if he's going to be on the refs naughty list for good (like Boogaard was), we might as well not re-sign him rather than pay the price for it for years.

I was excited about what it could mean for his trade value, but Guerin isn't capitalizing on any of these TDL candidates to acquire assets to build a better team in the future. And I think the grand finale will be Kaprizov walking to free agency when his contract is up for a team who has actually focused on building up for future success during his time with the Wild.
