Yeah it's cool that the 2nd best undrafted player in NHL history is a member of the Minnesota Wild. Only Panarin is above him.

Are we including goalies because Belfour would like a word...

you could also make an argument for Dan Boyle, Dino Ciccarelli, Adam Oates, Martin. St. Louis

Let's see if Adam & Marat can do something together.

That D group will struggle against the Avs...

Goalies aside, we need to draft BPA, whether it be a forward or defenseman.
Though, they should look at taking a goalie in the later rounds, because Minnesota has uh...*checks Iowa Wild's roster* ... wait they still have Hunter Jones? Oh and Zach McIntyre...and not a whole lot else.

I still push for BTA "Best tier available". Then, within that tier of evenly grouped players, position can then factor in. Luckily, where we are picking, there should be a group of a d-men available so we don't need to pick at a lower tier to get a position.

I have no problem with them picking a goalie with one of their later selections, but the 1st and 2nd round picks (at least) should be BPA. Drafting for need is how we end up with someone like Stramel.

Just ignore that our top prospects are forwards. Very nice.
We have one prospect with top line ceiling. The rest are complete magic beans. The team as constructed is woefully short on top 6 talent.

I’m all for BPA but if there is any question I’d draft the scoring forward with actual skill. Not grit , not size ……skill

You can only keep one group:

Yurov/Ohgren/Heidt/Khusnutdinov/Stramel

VS

Lambos/Hunt/O’Rourke/Peart/Spacek

Who is it gonna be?

Take out Yurov and it's still pretty close. Edge to the forwards because I'm pretty confident Ohgren and Khusnutdinov can be bottom 6ers, but that doesn't mean we're set at forward by any means.

I'll even take Stramel over all of the d-men. Rough estimate the highest d-man in the prospect pool wouldn't be in the top-10 in my post Fenton draft classes rankings.

In some order: the 5 FWDs listed plus Kump, Haight, Milne, Bankier, and Wallstedt are all ahead of the d-men. This is sad because the d-men took up a 1st, 2 x 2nds and 2 x 3rds worth of picks.
