Look, Steel was picked up in the hope that he could be a late bloomer, and rediscover the form that he had in junior hockey. He was good in camp, and i think that Evason, et al are going to give him about 10 games to show a pulse. The fact that he has to go through waivers and Rossi does not is also part of the situation.

It's basically Rem Pitlick 2.0. Odds are pretty good that things won't work out with Steel, and that we will barely remember that he was on the team a year from now. I hope that they are ruthless

It does bother me how they pick up strays such as MoJo, Jost, Bonino, and Rask, and seem to commit to them long past the time that it's obvious that they are players who have nothing to offer.

Long story short, Rossi and the team are going through growing pains, but it should all work out in the end.

How dare Boldy tell Zuccarello what to do!

If Zuccarello is an uncoachable prima donna maybe we need to find someone better for that line, and possibly even the locker room

lol...don't worry. Those conversations will go the other way.

Boldy is doing things the right way, he's humble and he's doing exactly what the veterans tell him to do, same with Addison. That's why we have some success on the PP.

The worst thing a kid can do coming up here is to try to run things, the veterans will crush him like a bug. The kids need to earn their respect, that's how it works and how it should work.

Zuccarello doesn't sound like a very good veteran to mentor our young kids if this is how he treats them

I thought Guerin was building a locker room where no one is above anyone else?

No he wants a locker room full of character guys.

But a hierarchy exists, the veteran leader group are the leaders, and the kids will learn from them.
So again, a kid trying to tell a veteran how to play hockey will not have success in this league.

What if the kid is better than the veteran at playing hockey though 🤔

What if that kid is considerably more talented and has a higher hockey Iq like Boldy as compared to Zucc?

Damnit you beat me lol , mine was worded in a more subtle yet inflammatory manner though !!!

I wouldn't worry, Zucc is a pretty smart playmaker.

And now Boldy gets to play with him and Kaprizov on the PP, and playing well with them, this can only be a good thing for his development.

They specifically mentioned that the culture change was to allow everyone to have a voice, no matter seniority. Zuccarello literally just had an interview where he mentioned Kaprizov teaches him a lot about hockey, is Kaprizov a veteran after a season and a half?

Don't you remember the main board Calder thread? How can anyone consider Kaprizov anything less than a veteran after he's played 30 years in pro hockey and is 50 years old?

Of course the younger guys are allowed to have a voice, otherwise it will be hard to create a great team. But the leaders are still the leaders.

Kaprizov is expected to be a superstar, would surprise me if he didn't have any tricks to show his linemates as well.

Zucc is also a very humble guy, he will never ever brag about himself, or say he's better than others. But he also gets pissed and hates to lose, not afraid to talk to a player who struggles or calling out the entire team, as he did a couple of days ago when he said we're playing defense like a f***ing junior team.

No, he has people to do that for him.

You don't get it. The coaching staff has given Boldy the keys to direct the PP on the ice. You always need a player to take the reigns and QB the PP, they have chosen Boldy to do that job. Not Zucc, Boldy. Just like Kap is listening intently to Boldy's call, Zucc is as well. Boldy sets it up so they can all execute and it is working.

But a hierarchy exists, the veteran leader group are the leaders, and the kids will learn from them.
No - that idea was purged with Parise and Suter. There was a divide in the lockerroom according to Billy and that split needed to go. It's one team... not two. It's not Veterans and young players, it's all players. Stop trying to create this false narrative.

Kaprizov is expected to be a superstar
Kaprizov IS a Superstar. Boldy is well on his way to being another one. Zucc isn't and never will be.
