Rossi back between Dewar and Duhaime... Boooooooo! :damnpc:

So Rossi played with Dewar and Duhaime and scored. Then he played on the Top-Line vs Chicago and had 1g + 1a. So that was not enough to keep him there - they just put him back with Dewar & Duhaime on the 4th line.

Do be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they send him down to Iowa. Rossi did everything they asked for and was one of the best scores in the preseason. But that seems to be not enough. Can anybody explain those actions to me? I can't see the logical aspects of those actions to be honest.

Sure...Deano sucks

To be fair, the same could be said about Jost & Steel. They all had very productive preseasons.

If Rossi continues to perform this way during the regular season and isn’t given the opportunity to move up the lineup then I will have an issue.

Can it though?

I don't see their names near the top of that list...

I take these with a grain of salt. TJ Hensick and Stephane Veilleux are both guys who have led (or nearly led) the NHL in scoring during the preseason.
I'm not saying it's a "great accomplishment", just saying... these guys are on the same team. One of them is getting pigeonholed into a 4th line grinder and still putting up better numbers than the guys being gifted better spots with better linemates, yet don't carry his pedigree or importance to the franchise future.

You have to understand, they will never never start a rookie on the top line. Rossi has done well, but the typical rookie mistakes are also there, twice in the penalty box against CHI.

Rossi still has a lot to learn. He will start on the 4th line, then he'll move up if he deserves it. Same path as most rookies.

Rossi has 1.6 PPG, Jost 1.5 and Steel 1.25.

I think it's very fair to say they've all had productive preseasons.
5 games, 2 points or more lead on them. Too small if a sample size to use ppg stats.
If it was 20 games? Sure... but then he'd also have 32 points vs Jost's 24.

I'm not saying the others "aren't" productive, just that Rossi has clearly been the best of the 3.

The small sample size is exactly why I used PPG, since Rossi has played more than the other two.

But yeah, it makes no sense to not at least try Rossi wtih Boldy for one game in the preseason.

Yeah, seems smart. "Oh, he's a rookie? I don't care how good he is, 4th line grinder! I don't care that his name is McDavid" (this is sarcasm and is in no way comparing Rossi to McDavid, just showing the asinine idea that a rookie MUST be played at the bottom of the lineup)

All you need to do to make sense of any of this line deployment is view it through the lease of trying to suppress players contract value. Boldy came in and priced Fiala out of our range. We also couldnt let Fiala continue to price Boldy out for us. We cannot let Rossi and Boldy have significant success because then they both have to get paid and Guerin would rather they flail around with scrubs then actually have to pay them long term. It’s just so obvious and pathetic it makes me sick. It’s the Fiala treatment and talented young players here not signed long term can expect it.

Boldy is too good to get suppressed so easily in the top 6. Best young player since Gaborik. (A rookie that started on the top line at 18yrso BTW)

I’m on alert because I think the FO got way too cute with Fiala and screwed the pooch. Don’t see then doing it with Rossi, but I think it’s perfectly natural for fans to be apprehensive about them being overly patient with the best C prospect in franchise history

If Boldy would have had Fiala and Rossi this year he probably puts up 80-90pts and then Guerin has to shell out 7.75x4. Playing with the trash Boldy will get this year he is probably a 60pt player and asshole Guerin will try and get him to a 5x3. Rossi will get the same treatment.

He's probably thing to have to shell out more than that even without Fiala. I won't be surprised to see Boldy blow way past 60pts anyway.

I'm not going to go crazy over this, because he could very well be on a different line by game #5. But it's just weird and flies in the face of the 'put guys in positions to succeed' idea.

But, hey, why not put another obstacle in front of him?

Minnesota has too many good forwards up and down the lineup. I'd trade one or two of them.
Seems like we have the right amount. I'd just put them in their proper spots.

Addison looks tiny.

Damn...then I realized he's 3 inches taller than Zucc. But Zucc is heavier, more muscle.
