It's a valid point, higher risk of injuries. But as Evason said, we need to try all guys who can kill, because we had some issues there last season.
We’ve seen quite a few lower body injuries blocking shots. I don’t want our top 6 guys being utilized heavily in that manner.
The best players in the league generally play both the PP and PK.
If you want to sneak one of the top 6 guys out to cheat a little on the pk and look to turn some offense the other way fine but I don’t like it. None of the 3 mentioned are burners with real breakaway speed.

If your philosophy is to only "go for it" when you have no deficiencies and deep at all positions, you might find that you will be waiting for a long time.

There are no rules that say you can't grow while still pushing for playoff success. Zuccarello is not blocking any deserving youngsters from playing significant minutes in the NHL.

The Wild are contenders. I have them as a top 3 team in the central and one of the top 4-5 teams in the West, overall. No reason to take the foot off the pedal at all. They will go as far as MAF and their special teams will take them. Zuccarello only helps.
Depends what you call depth. You want two scoring lines, is Boldy gonna be another Fiala and we hope people show up for him?? I never said zucc is the problem, his age is as I’m looking past this one year. I disagree completely that they are contenders. Just because the west is a bit weaker this year doesn’t make them contenders. Hawks and jets are goofy. Blues are probably still gonna walk all over us. Dallas is 50/50. Nashville might be better than us. Kings got better, oilers could of gotten better, flames upgrade??? Ducks could make noise this season. I’m not gonna say we are a top 5 team in the west so easily. I don’t trust MAF to carry us.

If we are going to suck for a year, this is the year to do it. This draft is just ridiculous. The Top 10 is littered with RHCs and other prospects who would fit perfectly with our core

unfortunately, we are not going to suck, unless Kap, Brodin, JEE, and Spurgeon are injured, and Dumba traded. We will be a vg regular season team.

Baring significant injuries, it's not going to happen. It's a deep competent team with a superstar that makes shit happen.

Time to get on board for the season.

Slight concern that Zane gets taken as it would completely screw us over due to us having zero other goalie options if there is an early injury, but he’s probably safe. Colorado might do it just to spite us after they lost their 3rd goalie to waivers, but then they would have to carry him.

Edit: He cleared.

im not sure how to feel about this upcoming season. on paper we have a decent team capable of winning alot of games but i can't see any chance of winning a cup. i was hoping we'd use our tiny bit of cap to bring in a RW 20G scorer (semi fiala replacement) but billy has other plans. what they are i have no idea. now if there ever was a year to miss the playoffs and sort of tank it would be for the 23 draft however i just don't see us being bad enough to land a top pick. i guess i just have to sit back and watch whatever happens.

Right now we can only add a $4MM caliber player, with cap accrual though we can wait 20 games and have room to add an actual difference maker if needed. We can theoretically be in the running for a guy like Kane this season if we continue to hold space. Though I also think we will want the room in case of goalie injury.

I liked what I saw from Fogarty's game. Great size and some semblance of something resembling speed/skill.
I think they like him for his size, ability to play C/RH, and his experience. He's not tough, persay, but is big and gritty enough to at least not be pushed around. Our bottom six is pretty small and/or soft, so they mgiht be looking to him as a call up whereas they might've called up Cramarossa/Rau in the past.

I was hoping for Chaffee to have a better preseason.
Didn't watch the last game, but he had a lot of shots and hits. I agree that this is the year for him to carve out a spot, but he couldn't do it. He's got decent size, strength, and speed, and a scoring touch down in the AHL, at least.

looks like Mermis, Sustr, Petan, Fogarty and Shaw are the 5 bubbles left.
I think they want to have Sustr's size in our otherwise very small D lineup. Mermis looks like an AHL'er, frankly. I can see Shaw getting a call up, but how many 5'8" guys are we going to ice?

I figured Sustr and Fogarty are still on the roster for their size, as to how many short guys i cant answer. if they were all faster i dont think it would matter however they are not so your guess is possibly better than mine. Id assume we have Sustr and Fogarty as the extras, mermis shaw back to iowa. petan i am unsure of depending on how they want to construct the lines with greenways injury.

Somewhere between 0 and 20.

I guess 21 is a possibility if the emergency goalie is 5'8" and makes it into the game...
