I have to assume if Fleury ends up there then he'll be the defacto #1 instead of the 50/50 split of Talbot/Kahkonen, yeah?
Definitely, which is why it would make sense to send Talbot the other way. Creates weird dynamics to bring in an expiring goalie for a playoff run & then try to go back to your previous starter the following season.

Everyone agrees Fleury is worth somewhere between a 1st and 2nd. Marat was just drafted in the second. So you minny fans think Chicago should give up a 1st/2nd (MAF) + another mid to high 1st (Dach/Reichel) to get someone you just drafted in the 2nd? Good luck with that.

He’s just not a touchable prospect given our center prospect depth & dead cap. He could be an extremely useful player for us in the final year of the dead cap. He’s worth much more to us than his market value.

Not asking with snark. Was this a serious reply?
More of a build:
Fleury + Dach for 1st and Marat or a 2nd/McBain/Marat.

Minnesota doesn't really need Fleury, he's a UFA at the end of the season and with the cap hits coming up, they are going to need younger players to fill in the spots. As well, I think if Guerin was serious about getting a goalie (rumor is he's been kicking the tires since January), he would have pulled the trigger some time way back when especially to avoid Kahkonen hitting GP and able to put Kahkonen back down in the AHL.

More so, Fleury isn't that great of a goalie - especially playoffs. He is one of my favorite goalies, but he is so hit or miss. I think if anything, Minnesota may give up at most a 2nd and a D-prospect for Fleury if even that. Like a 2nd and Dewar or Shaw.

Your cap issues seem all the more reason to go for it this year.
