L for Danny B on this. I am sure the Flyers are overrating their D prospects and younger D playing

My gut reaction is this is a big win for the Wild. With their start to the season and the '25 Draft not being too deep, I don't think that pick will be too valuable. Hunt is just a guy getting an extended tryout to see if he's worth a 1-way contract next year. Future 2nd and future 4th are what they are.

Man if CBJ didn't have Fantili the fans would be on suicide watch right about now.
At this rate, how long before he asks for a trade out though? Can't imagine he'd be happy being part of a forever rebuild.

The jackets need to be aggressive in parlaying these and other assets into something better or it's a terrible look for them.

A late 1 in a crap draft that everyone knows is crap and the other picks are in 2027. It's nothing. Not a single one of those assets will amount to a single damn thing for the Jackets.
Wull I'll take tomorrow's lottery number then! 😂.

Maybe I'm too optimistic because I wasn't super high on Jiriceks potential compared to other jackets fans.

I still hope we package some picks for help closer to now than way in the future.

Almost every team in the league could've offered more for a 6OA, young RHD, no? Did Columbus get fleeced or is this indicative of how teams view his game?

He’s pretty much dominating AHL. He’s a player that needs time
There have been lots of guys to do well in the AHL who weren’t able to transfer that lower level success to the nhl. IMO Juricek will be a for sure nhl D man. It’s what role he fits best? Bottom pairing guy or top four? The offers for him reflected the same question. Seems like a fair trade, considering.

The bolded is incorrect. This is a complete trash return. We basically gave him away for nothing.
Haha, I thought you were going to argue against me instead of conceding. Surprised to see you go beyond conceding!

It's not a great package but it's pretty standard or even generous for a formerly blue chip prospect who hasn't really made progress in the last couple years.

Minnesota has a 1.038 5v5 PDO btw. No team has actually ever maintained that over a full season since those metrics have been tracked. And they've done that with a 40 year old goalie in net. I wouldn't be surprised to see that 1st round pick wind up a lot higher than it currently is.

The trade deserves a new thread. Nobody wants to read 40 pages to get to the actual deal.

Seems a heavy price for Minnesota but if Jiricek develops to his ceiling their D core will be great.
It's not a heavy price, it's a very shallow draft. Outside of the top 7-8, the next fifty players or so are fairly exchangeable.

Few thoughts

1. Until Svozil gets the call, I can now stop following Columbus.lol
2. I think Columbus lost this trade big time and will regret this one
3. I don't like the destination for Jiricek - he'll be in the AHL with Spacek IMO. He may also block Spacek (unless he's a LHD) and I don't want that
4. Minny has an awesome team and Guerin is a very good GM - I'm at least happy he's joining a very good franchise with a nice future
5. Don't forget to look back and look how many trade proposals were better than this that the CBJ fans shit all over... this was low, very low.
6. I feel for Columbus. I really do.
we only shit on them because we had higher expectations for his value. I think we both may be wrong in the end. But I do hope for the best.

Like making change for a dollar, who knows where these picks end up. I think most CBJ fans feel pretty run over this year. And the changes keep on coming. Looking less like a Jarmo team and more a Waddell team. Good news for CBJ though, the team is looking better than it has in years and Jiricek wasnt part of that, so his departure has little to no consequences on the team.

I personally think this return reflects how NHL GMs view his potential. By all means, a 21 year old 6'4" RHD with draft pedigree should have returned a bounty. That he didn't means that teams don't think he's very good.

Man, regardless of how Jiricek develops that's just a brutal return on investment for a 6th oa
from Pre Jiricek, the 6th OA have been:
Edvinsson
Drysdale
Seider
Zadina
Glass
Tkachuk (more Van taking Juolevi at 5)
Zacha
Virtanen
Monahan
Lindholm
Zib
Connelly

About half of the prior 13 picks didn’t amount to their draft position.
