Someone in Columbus should be fired for this lol
A recent 6th overall pick for an okay prospect a late first and some meh picks. Either they drafted the wrong player way too high and some scouts need to go or they did pick the right guy and messed up his development and trade and some management needs to be fired.

There really isn’t any in between

Jiricek is mid. Good on CBJ to sell high. Injury history, consistently - in the AHL, bad mobility and problems with coaches and PT is a nasty mix. His ceiling is Matheson at best.
This isn't selling high for a 6th overall, which is why he's bringing back a late 1st and a 2nd.

My bigger question is where Jiricek belongs with the Wild? All their RHD are occupied. I mean unless you trade away Bogosian he's on the 3rd pairing. But he is better than Jon Merrill.

If he was a RHD, maybe I would see some value here, but now when we have Mateychuk and Svozil in the pipeline, I don’t see the point of getting him
He should play right away in Columbus. Assuming that happens, watch few of his games and report back. Whatever people think he is, he’s not. This is not some AHL defenseman or depth defenseman. He’s got a lot of things going for him. Said it already, he’s been on a Soucy-type path who the Wild also developed.

This is going to be a strong NHL player. Absolutely you can question if he and picks attached equal the promise of whatever Jiricek was supposed to be when drafted. Like it or not that’s not how he should be viewed at this point and has a lot of work to do to get back into that conversation.

If he belonged in the AHL in Columbus there's no doubt that's where he's going in Minni.

Bogo & Spurgeon are made of glass. He will likely be needed sooner than later. Bogo has been surprisingly solid for Minnesota. Put him with Brodin, my grandma could be an effective NHL d with him as a partner
