He should play right away in Columbus. Assuming that happens, watch few of his games and report back. Whatever people think he is, he’s not. This is not some AHL defenseman or depth defenseman. He’s got a lot of things going for him. Said it already, he’s been on a Soucy-type path who the Wild also developed.

This is going to be a strong NHL player. Absolutely you can question if he and picks attached equal the promise of whatever Jiricek was supposed to be when drafted. Like it or not that’s not how he should be viewed at this point and has a lot of work to do to get back into that conversation.
We heard the same about Jordan Harris and he's been at best a #6 guy.

lol meanwhile Hab fans hyping up their version of tyson barrie.
Oof if you mean Hutson then Jiricek has never come anywhere close to being anywhere near as dominant in any league as him. If you mean Mailloux, then Jiricek has never performed as well as he has in the start of this season. I will agree though that Mailloux's lack of footspeed and interest in defense is worrisome though.

Well, either he doesn't fit Evason's system, can't skate or he's got attitude problems. His stock around the league has dropped if that is the return

Should have packaged him and got something good.

- NHL insiders report a player whose value has dropped is on the block

- Fans of that player’s team insist this means nothing and they’re not trading him for less than a monster package

- Player gets traded for a package that is far less than that, but still decent.

A tale as old as time.

Genuinely feel for CBJ fans. They’ve been through enough. Great town and tons of young talent, I think Hunt will be a mainstay there. The picks can be part of a package to add another big fish

Right on cue hes tyson barrie reincarnated. Dipsy doodles in the offensive zone dont make up for him being an undersized incapable defender in his own end.

Think the deal itself is very fair. Gonna be disappointed if CBJ doesn't use this draft capital for something else before the draft though.

This is selling high. If you wait out two more years and he's still dime a dozen then his value is a 4th. His value wasn't anywhere near a 6th overall pick anymore. More like mid 1st round, which is basically what he fetched.
That's only if his stock keeps dropping. Minnesota develops players really well, and if they like him I'd trust their opinion on him.

It’s fine. It’s not spectacular. It’s adequate. And now the saga is finally over, which is mostly what I care about. Good luck getting minutes over Faber and Spurgeon.

Few thoughts

1. Until Svozil gets the call, I can now stop following Columbus.lol
2. I think Columbus lost this trade big time and will regret this one
3. I don't like the destination for Jiricek - he'll be in the AHL with Spacek IMO. He may also block Spacek (unless he's a LHD) and I don't want that
4. Minny has an awesome team and Guerin is a very good GM - I'm at least happy he's joining a very good franchise with a nice future
5. Don't forget to look back and look how many trade proposals were better than this that the CBJ fans shit all over... this was low, very low.
6. I feel for Columbus. I really do.

This sure reminds me a whole lot of when folks were telling us that no, really, Jordan Harris is totally a good guy to get back as part of the Laine trade and he'll totally play useful minutes.

(Hint: He's arguably the most useless blueliner on our team, and that team has Jack Johnson on it.)
Jordan Harris is from a trash organization with no clue what it means to produce an actual defenseman. Let alone a team interested in how to defend or transition. Maybe one player on that team plays on the Wild’s blue line right now. Also a team that takes up most of the bandwidth of this site talking about prospects that every other team possesses.

I’d trust Minnesota knows a hell of a lot more on what they are doing with their defenseman at every level than that organization.

The bolded is incorrect. This is a complete trash return. We basically gave him away for nothing.
A 1, 2, and 4 is hardly nothing. I get we took him at 6 but he's just never going to be an average NHL skater. That's not getting into the perceived attitude issues(which I still think is more Walsh than Jiricek).

Think they're getting a potential very good second pair bomb from the point guy. We got a haul for that. I ain't mad. Let's package some picks for help sooner than later.

If he belonged in the AHL in Columbus there's no doubt that's where he's going in Minni.
I think he starts on the Wild. Doesn't have to play right away but the Wild have a 35 year old and 34 year old d-man on the right side ahead of him, and they may not hold up the length of the season. Easy enough for the Wild to send down one of their earlier waived players on the 4th line.
