It's almost like there's this weird correlation of a player playing well and fans criticizing them or something

That wrist shot is nasty. He needs to do that more. Part of the reason Igor didn't see it is because it has no wind up at all. Through a screen probably looks like puck handling at the blue line. Also had decent mustard on it for a snap wrist shot.

We call that the Matt Carle w/Mustard.

I remember that Matt Carle was so lazy that even guy Boucher benched his ass in the middle of a game one time.

Say what you will about cooper and the players, but they’re always trying.

Habs fan coming in peace. Sergachev is a giant extremely mobile D that plays 20 minutes a game… all year. He accepts any role you throw at him and does extremely well. Oh, he’s 23 years old and will earn his 3rd Stanley Cup this year… He’s not even done developing in all honesty. Congrats!

crazy to think its been 5 years of Sergy and while he still makes boneheaded plays, hes still has potential to be a star. hopefully we can figure out a way to keep him around but could see the "Drouin" route with him and hes dealt when his contract is over

I was optimistic when he said at podcast after last season that he will try to make his offensive game better. But now I see that he needs to make his D zone play better this offseason, and thats how he will become a star player. But dude is only 23 and we are waiting from him Hedman or McDonaugh style plays, I think he will be much better :)

his offensive game has even disappeared

doesn't skate with the puck, doesn't create like he used to in the offensive zone

not sure what he contributes anymore

It doesn't matter if Sergy gets the odd goal.

He's a bone head out there far too often. I said my peace weeks ago in this thread.

Atta boy Sergy

At least every blunder is another thing that should reduce his next contract value. He's not worth more than 6 at this point, and if he's coming at JBB this Summer in negotiations(if they happen then) with numbers that start with a 7 or 8, let the bidding for him begin! He still has a very high trade value, so if he's demanding even McD level money, thanks for your time here Serg.

Great yeah, lets just throw away assets, that'll help us stay competitive.
He's not worth overpaying, which would then result in sacrificing other key pieces in order to keep him. The return for him in either NHL ready young guys/roster players and/or futures would be considerable as well. If he's willing to work with the team to stay, great. Keeping him already means Palat and Killorn are likely gone, and overpaying him means losing one of Cirelli or Cernak as well(or having to run even more elc/min level replacement types than they already will). Serg isn't worth that kind of "sacrifice" elsewhere.
