Post-Game Talk: Mike Smith beats Hutch. Oilers win 3-2

The Leafs goaltending has had an overall SV% of .908 within those 82 games. Not too shabby.

Be careful what you wish for, everyone wants Freddy on LTIR but when Campbell can't play this is the goalie you get, first scoring opportunity he sees in 3 on 3 and its in the back of our net. Hutch wasn't awful today but the Leafs limited the chance's he saw.

In saying that, thought we played pretty well. Out played them in the first and third period but we need our special teams to be the difference. 0/18 and haven't scored in the past 8 games now on the PP. Going into the playoffs, the Leafs cant afford to have mediocre special teams, most of the time they are the difference in winning and losing in the playoffs.
We've been limiting shots all season it seems. Strange how that turned around so quick. We used to give up like 40 a night.

Matty can’t do that in OT, if you don’t score, you back Check.
Keefe should had played JT/Willie/Gally more, esp in the 2nd period.
Jumbo needs Load MGT.
Simmonds/Soup/Engvall is a good line, hopefully, once Simmonds gets back to game shape, there will be more crash and bang.
The Dmen needs to shoot more, like a lot more.

A long deflection into the middle of the net? Of course he had a chance. He could have come across with the shot going way wide but did a weird wave and opened himself up.

But whatever. I don't expect much from Hutch. Leafs need to score some for their 3rd stringer.
you Called A shutout for Hutch earlier :sarcasm:

Obviously hard to predict how often a goalie would pick that deflection up fast enough, but it certainly isn't zero. You are right...that is alot to expect...the OT 2 on 1 was way more saveaable. Looked like house league lateral movement

OT OT, there never much love when we go OT.

Getting sick of every tom dick and harry standing on their head in the opposing net pretty much every game we play.

Its an us problem at this point. The difference in quality of goalies who’ve stonewalled us is beyond just mere coincidence or “he just has our number.” This team has an issue with finishing for some reason and making opposing goalies look like prime Hasek. It’s no wonder Dubas is pushing for another forward. Hope he gets a goalie to go along with said forward.

Well I’d say they won’t lose many games when they play like that, but unfortunately they have lost almost every game this year in the exact same fashion. Far too often this team loses games where they should be nursing a 3 goal lead in the 3rd. We are making average goalies look like Vesina Candidates. Stop trying to go top titty every time. Put the puck on the f***ing net. Only thing more frustrating is knowing how EDM got dominated for 120 minutes and walk away with the same amount of points. So incredibly frustrating

Bull. Freddie on Robidas Island opens up cap space to sign an alternative. Freddie's done here. Time to accept it.

Honestly, I don’t think Smith was amazing. He pretty much just did what good goalies should be doing.
Leafs didn’t attack the net as much after the 1st period-don’t know why.
Matty and JT missed a few shots(missed the net) where they would have scored most of the time.

Dang Nabbit was a terrific star out of Georgia and had a terrific career as a relief pitcher with the old Dodgers out of Brooklyn and then played his last remaining years in Puerto Rico with one arm and one leg and was blind
