Post-Game Talk: Mike Smith beats Hutch. Oilers win 3-2

Mm I didn't see it. He was rushing the puck all night I'd wager his numbers ended up pretty good.
Everyone's numbers should have been good tonight. Given he didn't face McDavid much, I wanted more

The Bolts are 3 points ahead of us with a game in hand. For the Presidents trophy.

Plus we're going to add at the deadline and hopefully have 2 NHL goalies heading into the playoffs.

110 point pace over 82 games.

Our best season ever was 105 three seasons ago.

Entertaining game. Thought Nylander and Tavares were very noticeable. Was hoping to see them in OT. OT can’t last long with those four.guys on the ice.

I think Smith had more to do and therefore you could say he had a better game but yeah, not by that much really.

That first period was so good, and then we just faded away.
I think the multiple point blank saves made Smith have a better game but sure, it's cause he had "more to do"

Seems like the obvious read from tonight. I'd like better finish, but we put a lot of good quality shots on net where he made quality saves. Pucks weren't just hitting him and he wasn't stationary.

But ... but ...but ... I thought everything was our goalies fault?
I mean in the last 10 games, outside of the ones where Campbell played our goalies have consistently been putting up sub .900 despite not actually having that many dangerous chances to deal with. Both the D and goaltending are responsible to some degree, but one has been more of an issue lately.

How has Rielly not learned how to play a 2 on 1? He has went through Carlyle, Horachek, Babcock and now Keefe. Multiple D partners.
Do something as the guy back. Stop standing in the middle. It's basically a 2 on 0 with a pylon.
Honestly I would have no problems if Rielly was used as a trade chip this offseason. He's just so, so poor defensively and doesn't actually do as much offensively as his point totals would make you think. In fact I think often times he hurts our offence by making some truly brutal decisions with the puck in the attacking zone (ie shooting when it's not a good option).

Not bad with our recent woes and being crushed by the falling sky this year and then run over by the 18 wheeler .. than there’s that dreaded curse ,, not bad at all
I’ll take it thus far

If we're going to be in this spot for a little bit with Hutch getting starts, I would like to see Woll/Scott/VV just get a game or two.

Would be nice to see where they're at against NHL competition and you're not rolling the dice any more than with Hutch.
