They said the same thing about Gaborik. That he is a "cancer" in the lockerroom. I dont think rumors like these should preclude Lombardi from going after a player. The Kings are a tight group and there are enough leaders on this team to prevent "cancer" from spreading. At this point, we do not need more "character" players, we just need one stay at home defenseman that can play 15 to 20 minutes a game, and a solid center to replace Richards. If Richards gets his game back in Manch, hopefully he can come back and play left wing.

Again, Which team mate or Coach or LEGIT league source came out and said OUTRIGHT. "Gaborik is a cancer in the locker room" ?

Fans don't count, they know nothing of what goes on in NHL Locker rooms.

Carter and Richards are not locker room problems, and never were(to the knowledge we have on hand).

Trust me, I am the last person on this board who would ever defend anyone from Columbus, but Carter did not act in a very professional manner on and off the ice in Columbus. I get it, he signed long term with Philly and didn't want to go to Columbus (who would?). But it's not fair to call them delusional, they have a right to be pissed about the way JC acted.

Happy it worked out for the Kings because Carter has been great on and off the ice for the Kings.

I'm straight trolling now Herby. :D

I do not like the Blue Jackets one bit (or any team in Columbus), but I can acknowledge their fans are awesome (well the ones outside of this site).

They can be mad all they want, that doesn't mean they have any insight into what goes on in the Locker room.

Or what Carter's team mates feel about him. Or if he is or was a cancer in the locker room.

Lombardi has taken his chances before. Hell, he brought that piece of **** Sean Avery back.

Kane does raise plenty of red flags, but who knows if his mindset or attitude matures or adjusts if he is traded. I would also be concerned with how serious he'd take his hockey career if he was dealt to a market like LA.

The talent is enticing, he looked great the last time the Jets were at Staples Center, creating offense, banging bodies, but all of his off ice antics really makes me wonder that he's taking his career very lightly.

And then there's this about Kane:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/kane-skipped-game-after-incident-with-teammates/

The guy has had a lot of smoke around him over the years, such as the above incident. Where there's smoke there's fire and the guy certain comes off as having a chip on his shoulder and the ego the size of a house. From what I see and hear about him, and in Manitoba I see/hear plenty about him and the Jets, I wouldn't touch him even though he is very talented.

this recent Kane stuff is the only thing that's troubling to me, as far as insight into character goes. The other stuff, with the cash flaunting is probably in bad taste, but his team mates didn't necessarily have a problem with it.

this locker room stuff though is worrisome though. I would still probably take him on the kings though for the right price. ego or not, you don't come into the 2 time defending cup champs locker room and act like an ***.

we're a bit desperate right now, and if he could help us short term, I'd have no problem with that.

I'd pass because of the locker room stuff and the rumor he needs shoulder surgery. Let somebody else gamble on him.

Just no :shakehead; we would never win anything with players like that

Dreger just said on NHL network the Kings are willing to retain up to 35%. And teams who are interested said that's not good enough. **** that.

Time to just bite the bullet perhaps. I'm not sure what the deadline is for buying out a contract, but I don't think Richards has enough time to redeem himself with Lombardi and Sutter.

Don't know what's going on behind closed doors but it seems pretty obvious they're not going to get any kind of reasonable deal for Richards right now.

I still think a big reason Dean wanted to send Richards to Manchester was to see if he could revitalize his game and bring him back. We better hope something like that happens.

Carter acted like a baby in Columbus, sure, but he grew up in LA.

That's the only thing I get pissed about regarding Columbus fans. Once an *******, always an ******* in their mind. People change and grow up all the time, and that's exactly what Carter did. I applaud him for that. LA provided him with the right atmosphere to do it, not the perpetual loser show in Cbus.

This basically re-cut the wound, poured lemon juice and salt into it, and dropped some disease into it.

Well he did just sign a big deal to spend the rest of his career in Philly, and Holmgren even said to his face that the rumors of him being dealt were not true, only to be dealt a few days later. Yeah, I'd be pretty ****ed to if my boss blatantly lied to my face.
