He had one bad game on national tv and people won't let it go.

That's why I use "fancy stats." People don't let things go that they saw once.

And all that aside, I think it's perfectly reasonable to say Nemeth-Braun is worth a try. We had 47 shots in the game they played together.

What about the game we gave up 5 goals (really 6) in one period with them together and lost 7-4?

Islanders lost 4 points till they are gone from us
though they can still catch Washington, 16 points eliminate the Islanders

The actual correct answer is Jones-Braun but the Rangers just decided they hate Jones.
Wait. You like Jones? But he's 21. That's the same age as Nils. I thought that was unfair to Nemeth. Plus after all of your posts of how great Nemeth is, you don't even include him in your dream pair? Haha.

I don't want Nils/Schneider out of the lineup because they're young, I want them out of the lineup because they suck right now (and they're great prospects, I'm going to keep repeating that so this doesn't get twisted around).

Jones has been excellent in his limited time. He's better than Nemeth.

I never said Nemeth was great. I think he's currently better than Schneider and Rangers fans have their dogma on Nemeth and that's that. I don't think he's gotten a fair shake from the fans.

Sometimes I think we don't truly appreciate the season Chris Kreider is having. It's been incredible.
He saw some old Rick Nash NHL games and learned from it ;)
I am happy with a Rangers win, but Dumba got injured this morning after we won vs Hurricanes so sad Wilds news. :(

To be fair neither do you. When you think you are right you hang on to it like a pitbull on a poodle.
I'm not talking about that.

Of course I'm gonna hang onto this because I am right.

I'm talking about people hanging onto single-game eye test highlights.

Does anyone else think that game winning goals is a completely arbitrary stats and that hockey pundits should stop bringing it up as meaningful?
Yes!

MLB has a "clutch" stat. Off the top of my head, I think it's 7th inning or later, for a game within 3 runs. If somebody broke GWG down into a certain context like that, it could be interesting.

As it stands, most of them are happy accidents scored nowhere near the end of the game, and the game often isn't even close.

These next scenarios are considered game winning goals:

1) You win a game 8-1, the guy that scored the second goal in the first period gets the GWG.

2) You win the game 5-4, but it was 5-0 in the third period and the other team had a mad scramble to come within one. The fifth goal was stat padding at the time.

3) You win the game 2-1, that second goal came in the 5th minute of the game.

4) You score an empty netter and the other team gets a meaningless goal with 2 seconds left. The empty netter "won the game."

He should never have been signed to that contract, he was every bit as bad as he is here in Colorado in the playoffs. I haven't minded a lot of the additions Drury has made, this one baffled me, and then doubling down on it by not getting a LD replacement for him at the deadline was mindboggling. I dont know what the answer is amongst what we have but it isn't him. I'm not a fan of Braun on his off side, it seemed like he kept wandering across to the other side and Schneider and him would switch sides at times. Maybe a few more games there and things run smoother? I haven't watched Robertson this year has he been reliable in Hartford?
Saw the Pack and Robertson last night and he seemed like the real deal. Head and shoulders better/bigger than the rest of the prospects. Probably about as smooth as Jones but with a big build and a the demeanor of a mature, confident defender.

I agree Braun looked wobbly tonight. Saw him lose his balance a few times.

Another 2 points. Not the prettiest game, but better than the last few games against NJ/PHL/NYI. Lots of playoff teams lost tonight. We have a legit shot at the division. Not sure if that’s a good thing, but home ice is looking good.
Ha ha ... the ice at MSG looks terrible.

Obviously Schneider didn't like sitting last game. LOL

Damn can this kid drop the gloves. How can you not love that? A huge Hit, his best impression of a rock'em sock'em robot, and setting up his D partner for his first in a Rangers uniform, is a pretty excellent return to action.

You can say the same for Ryan Strome too.

But I think the first star goes to our leader, who did not have a point in the game, Mika Zibanejad. If ever there was an instructional video, in how to play a 200 foot game, all you need to do is watch his game tonight. He was flawless. He has to get some votes this year for the Selke Trophy. It would be criminal if he didn't.

And as I said like ten games ago, when we still had 3 games left against the Canes,... that we had a real possibility to catch them, with our favorable schedule and head to head battles with them. We are now only 2 points behind. The Canes do have a game in hand, but we still have two games with them with 11 games left. It could go down to the wire.
