I'm still holding out hope for Correa.

Same, but I'd be ok with Seager. If Correa is a 10 and Baez is a 1, I'd put Seager at a 7. Seager will eventually move to 3rd, but I think he can still make SS work for 2-3 years. So the Tigers would need to revisit the SS problem a lot sooner than with Correa, but they do get a SS for now, and when he eventually moves to 3rd he'll be an upgrade over whoever is there at that time.

His defense is ok-at-best, and he doesn't run, but at the plate he might be the most complete hitter of the bunch.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't be disappointed with Seager.

i'd be okay with Story too, I want Correa but any of those 3 and i'm happy

Semien(because he's already 31) and Baez were the two I wanted to avoid and one of those is gone now

Wow. The Rangers aren't afraid to spend.

This worries me because I think the Dodgers are going to go hard after Correa now.

After Seager got $ 325m/10y, I cannot imagine that the Tigers top this total amount or an $ 32.5m AAV for Correa - who is still the better player. Say hello to Javier Baez...

This is my feeling as well. This Seager development is brutal for Detroit. Lowers further our chances at Correa and increases chances of Baez. Maybe Story will swoop in and be our savior

Story would come with two red flags: He hit much better at Coors than away (but players often adjust to different environments, yet this is no given). As pointed out on blessyouboys.com in the discussion about Baez, Story obviously has some arm issues, since his throws are becoming less accurate from year to year.

While I am still hoping for Correa (with little optimism now), I do not want the Tigers to sign either Story or Baez for the amounts projected by MLBTR and Fangraphs (which were actually exceeded for SSs). Sign Galvis for one or two years, see what Kreidler can contribute and hope for better luck next year...

ssssshhhhhhhhhhhh

Getting close to your first B1G title since 2003, I guess we should all collect for that moment of silence and be quiet. We are seeing something quite rare, in fact there isn't a kid that they are recruiting that has been alive for a U of M Conference championship.

Get it over the line against Iowa. I don't think they are a great team so it should happen, but I have seen Harbaugh spit the bit plenty of times in the past to believe he is a great coach, sorry I just don't. Happy to see him extended in all honesty as someone that roots for a rival and thinks it is a long-term gain.

Entering yesterday he had the worst record in NCAA history with a school against ranked teams with more than 10 games there, I mean yeah it has been bad. You can sssshhhh that but the numbers don't lie how much he has struggled. Happy for a few of U of M fans, mostly the family members that went there that they are back to somewhat resembling the team I grew up with.

This. My days as an undergrad in Ann Arbor were toward the end of the Carr era, after the last national title. Back then, the UM-OSU rivalry was still a fairly even back and forth. It wasn't long after that the scales truly tipped, and it's certainly been painful ever since. Given the recent history between the two, the 10 years since our last win, and the fact this game propels Michigan into the B1G title game and possibly a playoff spot.... I couldn't give two shits about the loss to Sparty at this point. Sucked at the time given the circumstances, they're certainly a top-3 rival, but that game is so far in the rear-view mirror now, turns out the loss means nothing, I just..... yeah don't care lol.

Cooper was fired for his inability to win that game eventually. It was heavily tilted in the 90s (just 2 wins and a tie for OSU) with some of the greatest tOSU teams getting nipped by U of M.

Outside of the 70s and 80s it feels like that thing has always been tilted pretty heavily at least other than my early years that is how I remember it. But it feels like classes come and go at both never losing to the other.

Yeah that was a brutal development for sure. Correa is better for me so I don't want to see his new market. Though I guess you might be able to argue him down with his injury history... But man I was hoping they would find a way to do it and doubt it after today. Come on surprise us Chris.

Yeah thinking Ohio State is going to beat U of M in a game is a bad take when they haven't beaten a real Ohio State team since 2003 (I realize they beat the Fickell team in 2011) entering that game... They were a 7.5 point dog at home.

sssshhhhing someone when the obvious view point entering the second is that Harbaugh was in fact a historically inept coach in big games while at U of M is strange.

I won't hide how much I hate U of M, growing up right near it in the Northville/Novi area 20 minutes from there breed a hatred for the fans of that place. I root against them whenever possible and always will. Wonderful academic University, my little sister is a graduate and I of course know several friends that attended. But there is a segment of their sports fans including being cursed at as a child in the Desmond Howard trip game because I root for the green team that really soured them on me. I know there are good ones, but honestly of the D-bag sports fans I have personally come into contact with U of M is over half of my life total. So yeah I will never go easy on them, I don't want to see them win a thing. I think their basketball and hockey programs are building into juggernauts and will be successful. I still don't think Harbaugh is an elite coach, not sure they really consolidate on this, but it is their time in the sun for the first time in a long time.

I am surprised at how poorly Ohio State played and I think U of M played their best game in years. I honestly thought even until the end of the third this would turn and it didn't. The ends really did get home all day and Ryan Day never adjusted which frankly shocked me. Good thing it was played on a muddy/snowy track as well. Hopefully they beat Iowa, the B1G needs a team in the playoff and you have to hope they get to avoid Georgia in the semi-final, that is the only team I really wouldn't want to play in that semi-final of what is likely out there now, Georgia is a steamroller.

I'm not really a college football fan, so I suppose I just don't get it. But I'd never root for a conference. I like (and hate) specific teams; I wouldn't "cheer the Big Ten" anymore than I'd want Boston or Toronto to "represent the Atlantic Division" in the Cup Finals.

Assuming Michigan beats Iowa and makes the playoff, I hope they get destroyed by whomever they face. They're a very good team, but that doesn't whatsoever change the feeling that Harbaugh and Co can perpetually kick rocks.

That is a part of living in SEC country that is annoying for me and I think their conference rooting has evolved my feelings on that now. It makes me want the B1G to at least be there. You can also argue things like it helps the B1G bottom line to get that slotting and money for the appearance. But I won't lie it wasn't something I thought of when I lived in the mid-west.

2018 might as well have been 20 years ago for Baez, he's never reaching that performance again. I like Baez, but this is very disappointing.

well that's irritating to wake up to

would have much rather they shelled out the extra like 7-9 million a year or whatever for Correa or at least signed Story for a similar price to this

Am I the only one who doesn’t hate the Baez signing? I like the term, he plays amazing defense, and hit 31 HR with 87 RBI’s last year. That is nothing to sneeze at, he definitely fills a black hole at SS.

I don't hate it, it's just very disappointing. The terms aren't bad and I feel like we'll grow to love him. He's a big improvement over what we had.
