National Championship or bust. They have a hockey team, this season, equal to Alabama in football. There is zero reason they should not win a Natty. Anything less is a massive choke job with who they have on the team.

I dunno man, I'm never ready to hand a title to any team. I've seen some stacked teams go down in the playoffs to teams that hit a hot streak.

Even with Power, that defense can be had. Goaltending could be a achilles heel for them too.

Took me a minute.

Lions? Nope. College Football? Nope. Hockey? Yup. Michigan Hockey? Yup. Oof. 2-5. Ranking will take a hit I assume?

After last night, UM is #1 in the pairwise and #2 in the KRACH. USA Today and USCHO polls are pretty worthless as they have zero bearing on playoff positioning.

Yeah, college hockey is weird, and while Michigan's internal expectation is certainly a national championship, if they don't get there it's not necessarily a failed season. Many, many stacked teams have been sunk, and even early in the tournament. Single-game elimination, anything can happen. Add to that a bunch of teenagers who haven't mastered consistency yet, and you have a recipe for upsets.

As a Michigan fan, I will no doubt be disappointed if they don't win it all. But by the same token, I've had my heart broken by many dominant Michigan teams in the past, so nothing will surprise me.

It is time to give McCarthy entire series running the offense. McNamara’s downfield passing looks even worse after a bye week, if he plays like this against MSU, PSU, and Ohio Michigan will not win those games.

I was talking about this with some guys in my fantasy league. Cade McNamara is the U of M brand Jared Goff.

19 completions on 26 attempts for 121 yards? What’s even the point?

That is such a good comparison it’s scary, they are both check down artists with no touch downfield. Now the big difference is the Wolverines have something to play for, and they have a more than capable “backup”. Hopefully McNamara has a short leash against this loaded backend schedule.

Michigan also has a good defense and running game to fall back on so you don’t see the shortcomings of McNamara as significant of a problem, but this is classic Michigan season evolution.

Here we are entering the Michigan-Michigan State week and Michigan has a massive question mark under center, they’ve ran very few reps to see what the passing game can be. No concerns have been calmed after letting McNamara has settled in.

Things have the potential to go south quick and the fall back is McCarthy with almost zero runtime.

As a betting man, anything with MSU as the underdog this week is an easy bet for me.

I just wouldn't give any credence to being #1 in October...it may mean something at the end of the season, but I've seen many #1's flame out...*cough* the other Huskies of St. Cloud sticks out. I 'member MTU was #1 some seasons ago too. (for like a hot minute).

And it's not like Western is a slouch. Play 60 minutes.

In October or November, a fluky weekend happens. Looking at the matchups, I'm loving some of these non-conference games, and teams are traveling to places I never would've expected. Arizona State at Colgate, Union at Northern Michigan, N. Dakota at Quinnipiac, Denver at Providence, CC at BC.

I'm with you, brother. I know you know your college hockey from the good old days when we were more prolific posters in the NCAA thread (i.e., when our respective teams were in the WCHA).

My post was meant to spread the word that polls are rubbish and it's anyone's game when the playoffs come....remember all the Hakstol NoDak all-star teams that never won? Or Bemidji State having 1 NHL draft pick (a 7th rounder!) and steamrolling to the Frozen Four?

This is the best era of college hockey in my book; the past few years have had 8-10 legit contenders as opposed to the 3-4 in years past.

The Lions. So bad. Even when they were up 10-0 I knew they were going to lose.

Lions were 0-6 for reason. Rams are Super Bowl contenders for a reason. Lions played amazing in the first quarter, shut down the run game and the decimated secondary held on until late in the game. Sewell clowned Donald which was amazing. Not putting up with his alpha male shtick. I am not getting on them for dropping this game. SoFi was Ford Field West on Sunday. It was a great sight.

$150 tailgate parking and $18 beers is a joke. No wonder no one in LA cares about showing up.

Awesome. They were already in great shape with Fetter, this should improve the pipeline even more.
As much as I appreciate Fetter's work for the Tigers and the changes made in the organization, we should be fair: Developing and improving pitchers has been a forte of the Tigers for several years now. But I am sure that further improvement is still possible. Drafting Jobe instead of Mayer was a bold move; every help on his way to Detroit is welcomed by me!

Thanks for reminding me...I forgot this game was on tonight.

It's a moral victory for Bucky to keep it scoreless after 1. They don't have the personnel to play this kind of rope-a-dope game with UM.
Wisconsin is definitely getting some chances this period
