Cincinnati, Oh
Not to get ahead of things, but if they can somehow beat Pittsburgh then I really like their chances against Philly or New York in the second round.

Just read that McBackup started 4 of the 5 against Pittsburgh this year. That puts a different light on the O-fer we had against them.
Hopefully Bob will be well rested. First 3 games in 5 nights.

Not until later tonight, there are a couple of games in the west that determine seeding.

A whole new topic could be started about why the league has games scheduled at 9pm EST today. Games should be finished by 6pm so a schedule can be released at a reasonable time.

If game 2 is friday night, are many people thinking about road tripping to Pittsburgh?

I'm considering it. I just want to get an idea if there will be many other CBJ fans looking to make the trip too.

I'm optimistic heading into the series for several reasons:

1) The team's productive core is healthy. Horton and RJU haven't been key pieces to this team's success and Foligno should be back by game 3 or so if I'm reading his status correctly. All said, injuries are minimal given an 82 game season.

2) Getting the #7 seed. I think that the Bruins are just too deep, too experienced, too talented and too good in goal. Too many toos for my liking on them.

3) Dan Bylsma is taking the Penguins to the playoffs for his 6th time. In his full seasons as head coach (this eliminates his first season when he won the Cup and last season with its lockout when he went to the third round), Bylsma's teams have won ONE series in three years, getting bumped twice in round 1 and once in round 2. Hardly impressive.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=6406

4) Marc-Andre Fleury's save percentages in his last four playoff years: .883, .834, .899, and .891. The guy hasn't hit the 90% save mark once in a span 4 years totaling 31 games. These numbers are pathetic. He is a very vulnerable spot for the Penguins. His Stanley Cup is a distant memory and his playoff follies are recent and numerous. The Jackets should have a distinct advantage in goal.

5) The Penguins offensive production is not that much higher than the Jackets. Despite having two of the best players in the game in Crosby and Malkin, the Penguins only generated 16 more goals (247-231) than the Jackets did (.2 per game) this season. The Jackets can hang with the Penguins offensively.

While the Jackets certainly couldn't be considered favorites by any stretch of the imagination, a series win by the CBJ wouldn't be as epic as the pundits will play it if it happens if one only takes into account this season and not the history of the Jackets.

Have a blast to all of you with tickets for the games:yo:

Seriously considering it here too. I have a line on tickets and am trying to work out the details. Being Easter weekend helps somewhat.

about last summer.
Skimming through our thread, skimming through their thread...

Let's get some historical info in here:

Game 1 - Fri Nov 1 in Pittsburgh, 4-2 loss

Team records after the game:
CBJ (5-7-0), PIT (10-4-0)
Bob started but got pulled.
Pittsburgh 2/4 on PPs
CBJ 39 shots on goal
Based on this: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20132014/TV020192.HTM
Lines as follows (not in any particular order or position, sorry):
Letestu, Dubinsky, Atkinson
MacKenzie, Boll, Chaput
Johansen, Umberger, Comeau
Gaborik, Anisimov, Foligno
Prout - Tyutin
Murray - Wisniewski
Johnson - Savard

Game 2 - Sat Nov 2 in Columbus, 3-0 Pens (3rd being an empty netter)
Team records after the game:
CBJ (5-8-0), PIT (11-4-0)
McElhinney in goal (reading through the recap, he had a good game)
CBJ 19 shots on goal
Based on this: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20132014/TH020207.HTM
Lines as follows (not in any particular order or position, sorry):
Gaborik, Dubinsky, Atkinson
Comeau, Anisimov, Letestu
MacKenzie, Boll, Chaput
Johansen, Umberger, Foligno
Prout - Nikitin
Tyutin - Wisniewski
Johnson - Murray
So the coaching staff completely shuffled the forwards between the two games.

Game 3 - Mon Dec 9 in Pittsburgh, 2-1 Pens
McElhinney in goal
CBJ with 33 shots
game 0-0 until~4 minutes into the 2nd - Malkin scored
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20132014/TV020455.HTM
Umberger, Johanson, Foligno
Calvert, Dubinsky, Atkinson
Comeau, Anisimov, Jenner
MacKenzie, Tropp, Letestu
Tyutin - Johnson
Prout - Nikitin
Murray - Savard

Game 4 - Sun Dec 29 in Columbus, 5-3 Pens
McElhinney in net
Pens 3/6 on PPs
CBJ scored first (must have been the only time we led according to Porty)
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20132014/TH020587.HTM
Umberger, Johansen, Foligno
Anisimov, Dubinsky, Atkinson
Skille, Comeau, MacKenzie
Tropp, Letestu, Jenner

Murray - Wisniewski
Savard - Nikitin
Johnson - Tyutin

Game 5 - Fri Mar 28 in Columbus, 2-1 Pens
0-0 tie until ~9 minutes left in the third
McElhinney in net (Bob had flu)
http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20132014/TH021103.HTM
Calvert, Dubinsky, Atkinson
Comeau, MacKenzie, Letestu
Jenner, Johanson, Horton
Umberger - Anisimov, Foligno
Johnson - Prout
Tyutin - Wisniewski
Schultz - Savard

So, I have learned that we (by necessity or not) have really shuffled the lines for the various games. We all know that the beginning of the season was rough. One of the media guys said, sometime in the last week or so, that since Jan 1, the CBJ had the 5th best record in the league. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

This schedule is not good for me. I have classes on Mon and Wed evenings. Looks like I will have to make some sacrifices one way or another. I am NOT missing these games in Columbus next week.

Of course, no playoff games on the weekend in Columbus. We get no respect.

Which will keep me from making the nearly three hour one way trip to the game. We would've pushed back to Dayton after the game and got up early Monday to get to work on time.

As a benefit perhaps it makes it harder for the Yinzers to show up. One would presume those who can afford tix on the secondary market have gainful employment.

Will be cheering in front of my TV and my son will be trying to convert guys in his dorm to the CBJ

No, they haven't released times for most of the Games 5-7. Depending on who is remaining and NBC's prodding, they'll set the times decide which ones go to NBCSN and which ones go to CNBC then.

Was listening to NHL Network on Sirius last week and they said all playoff games on NBC, NBC Sports, MSNBC or NHL Network
