Doesn't make sense that they would declare Foligno out on Thursday, when they both skated this morning and "looking fleet" according to Porty. All along they have said Foligno was ahead of Umby, I'm hoping this is a little playoff gamesmanship on Richie's part and Foligno is ready to go. Why wouldn't they wait until tomorrow or Saturday to declare him out if he's that close to coming back??

i was thinking that too...but I don't remember too many teams pulling stunts like that over the recent years...

Maybe Letestu to the right of Johansen? Then have a fourth of Skille-MacKenzie-Tropp? I'd flip Comeau and Umberger.

yeah...i wasn't caring about RW/LW...so you're right there...and swapping Letestu and Skille may work...gawd we need 71 back healthy...

Maybe he's not close to coming back? Porty thinking he "looks fleet" skating by himself isn't exactly medical clearance from a doctor

I know that it was an optional skate, but the photo I saw on Twitter, he was in a regular practice jersey, not a no contact jersey. I would say that he's probably in on Monday, especially if we lose on Saturday. If he's out, he's got an additional three days to work his way to game shape. Umberger was out for a far lesser time period.

no, but i don't think if he's been skating that they need medical clearance, sounds like it's a case of how foligno feels. just seems really odd to not give it until the morning skate saturday to decide, lots could happen between now and then.

I guess we can expect a few calls against us in Game 2. Pens fan/media with a nice package showing Dubi vs. Crosby. They must've made up a different gif with all of Malkin's BS.

I don't even want a rivalry with Pittsburgh, there fans are so obnoxious and stupid, I really don't want any part of it. Very first game against them in the playoffs and they are already crying that Dubinsky played there star player hard and gave him a love tap in the stomach.

The only thing I'll agree with them about is the nut shot. It was bad, but if it didn't get called, let it go. The only thing I'll complain about from our side is that Letang didn't get a bigger penalty for his "slash" aka spear on Jenner. Clean hit from Jenner and absolutely dirty response from Letang. He's a guy you can get off his game quickly. In fact Jenner was doing a great job getting under the skin of Letang and Malkin.

LOL I love the faceoff one, Crosby slashes Dubi and Dubi does it back, Crosby just sits there for a good second then is like "Oh **** I could draw a penalty from this" and then acts like he got stabbed.

Kinda like the spear that Letang gave Jenner? Dubi's was bad, but classic cup check. Letang's spear was potentially much more dangerous than that...

Dubinsky played there star player hard and gave him a love tap in the stomach.

Funny thing about his stomach is that its located on his ****.

But I was hoping we would play him hard. Dubi is doing exactly what he needs to be doing. I feel a Sid/Pens breakdown coming. I know we can beat this team with better goaltending from Bob. Pens are soft man, soft as baby s***.

Pittsburgh fans believe that Dubinsky hit him in the face with the shaft of his stick on the play in front of the net, was slewfooted, nut shot (agree) and boarded/cross checked in the video clip. I'll accept their argument on one thing, but everything else, grow up, it's the playoffs.

I really hope that there aren't a bunch of ticky-tack calls on Saturday.

And laud Bennett(?) for his huge hit on Murray - i.e. charging/boarding.

Actually if you are talking about the thread on the main board, it was a Leaf's fan that posted the classless comment about Dub. An obvious troll thread to stir things up. Don't fall for it.

Crosby's only 26 and I doubt he plays for someone other than Pittsburgh. Malkin's only 27.

Penguins fans are going to be insufferable for at least another decade.

We wanted to move east and this what we get.

I said it on the main board and I will say it here. You notice that Crosby only had a quick flinch reaction to being hit in the balls and then he skated away. Conclusion: Crosby has no balls. :)

Regarding the lack of video on Malkin, I suppose it was hard to catch a good angle since he does most of his stuff with a ref standing in the way.

Got this from NHL .com canadian press today at 4:25

The Blue Jackets flew home for a couple of practices before Saturday's Game 2. Ten players skated Thursday morning, including injured forwards R.J. Umberger (shoulder) and Nick Foligno (knee). Umberger may be available Saturday, pending approval from doctors, while Foligno probably won't play before Game 3 at the earliest.

It'd just be Kane and Toews in West. Really...for having Malkin and Crosby, I find it amusing they haven't managed more than one Stanley Cup the last few years.

Comeau prefers LW and Umby RW, though both could switch if need be. Skille is very much a RW. He scores a lot of his goals flying down the RW.

Way to go Dubi! That's such an important job and he was born for it.

Edit: TSN did a segment on Dubi "Shadowing Sidney", compared him to Peca and Brind'Amour.
