The energy was so amazing, then that happened.

It was the best period of hockey I ever saw in Nationwide. I can still picture Gardiner putting that first goal in. Talking to some friends in between periods about how they might just win the division.

How was I to know that the first game would summarize the Jackets for the next decade?

On another note I still wear my original Pro Player jersey with the Inaugural Season patch to every game. If I remember correctly it was already out of date when I bought it during the first season. I am so trendy!

I have that patch along with an original program and ticket in a framed case... those large programs were sweet back then... As you, I thought we had that game in the bag, that was a long time ago...

Pat Sajak's bracket. I'd kill to be able to drive to a Jackets playoff game:

If the Jackets can get by Pitt I'd pick them to beat either Philly or NY... I suppose thinking of the CBJ going deep into the playoffs before a game has even been played is ridiculous but it's fun nevertheless..

Jackets can do this. It's not David vs. Goliath. It's the Up-and-Coming vs. the Never-Going-to- Achieve-to-their-Potential.

Pittsburgh only had 16 more goals than the Jackets during the regular season. Fleury hasn't had a save percentage of 90% in his last four playoff years. Dan Bylsma has won one playoff series in the three seasons in which he's coached the team for a full regular season.

If the Jackets can reasonably limit the production of Crosby and Malkin and Bob plays well, then Jackets in 6.

That is dangerous territory. I still remember the first ever regular season game at Nationwide vs Chicago where the Jackets were up 3-0 after the first. Then the collapse... :shakehead

I was yelling 'Welcome to the NHL Chicago' from Section 106.

No....really....it was embarrassing to lose after yelling that and ever since.:(

Well, I did the same. Had the CBJ beating Philly in the 2nd round before losing to Boston in the ECF.

so assuming healthy 18 and 71 we get something like:

38 - 19 - 71
13 - 17 - 11
5 - 42 - 18
24 - 55 - 14/26?

LW/RW not taken into account...putting "best" 12 on the ice

I'd almost be tempted to put Umberger on the fourth line, but I think that lineup would be okay. Comeau plays over Tropp. My biggest curiosity is if Atkinson does not get himself into the series, does Richards maybe sit him?

if you check out the video of Jacks goal, cam driving to the net is what opened up the space for JJ...things like that are ok for me if Cam keeps doing that...it'll keep opening up that space for others...

I'm sure he does. However not because he outplayed Tropp in game one. Comeau didn't do much.

Doesn't make sense that they would declare Foligno out on Thursday, when they both skated this morning and "looking fleet" according to Porty. All along they have said Foligno was ahead of Umby, I'm hoping this is a little playoff gamesmanship on Richie's part and Foligno is ready to go. Why wouldn't they wait until tomorrow or Saturday to declare him out if he's that close to coming back??
