Great first 2 periods, which was near perfection. Hits, goals, well defended, good PK as well. A terrible 3rd period and the PK went back to being bad in that period to let the Oilers right back in the game.
Overall a very good performance against a hot team.
I was talking about Bertuzzi in that bold part. But, yes, I do agree. Knies does need to either have his minutes reduced in games, or have a healthy scratch reset stretch. He’s clearly fighting the game right now due to fatigue. As the season has worn on and the games get tougher, Knies is more and more frequently been caught flat-footed/wrong direction, and is standing still far too much. Causes him to take a lot of bad holding/hooking/tripping penalties.
When the team is back healthy, he might benefit from a few games in the pressbox to regroup and reset.

shades of St Louis Blues back in the Cujo days, up 5-0 in the 3rd and blew the whole fuc*en game and lost 6-5 in overtime... totally thought this was happening again tonight, they never make it easyGame leaves a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth, the positive are we handed little brother a loss, without three top 9 forwards and solid 1st and 2nd period.
The negatives are at 5-0 we should be able to put that game away without letting them get within 2 goals (almost 1 with the nuge hitting the post).
Unless we take 0 pens every playoff game, our PK is going to be our downfall.
If we played the way the Oilers did in this game, they'd be telling us we looked like shit. ZERO 5 on 5 goals? They didn't "Nearly blow it." 6-3
Chicken little strikes again.
Oof.. was actually at that one... never forgot it.. lolshades of St Louis Blues back in the Cujo days, up 5-0 in the 3rd and blew the whole fuc*en game and lost 6-5 in overtime... totally thought this was happening again tonight, they never make it easy

Which is why I said I was happy he was NOT cooked.as per keefe, he is fine.
Constant pressure... They had a powerplay for the last 5mins of the game basically with the goalie pulled. What are you even talking about? I'd only hope Edmonton had pressure with a man advantage or else Edmonton has some big problems. An empty netter with constant pressure by Edmonton beforehand.
Yes they did nearly blow it.
Oilers fans in shambles after Alberta born Bobby McMann made this comment
That is why the leafs are cooked before they even startOnly in Leafs Land is a five goal lead heading into the third period needed.
Because a three goal lead just isn't good enough. To the team's credit they started on time. They just happened to check out early is all.
It's like they went into the locker room in the second intermission and said "we got this one in the bag".
No need to try hard anymore. Just go out and kill the clock. It's amazing how they can shift gears like that so easily.
Pour it on in the first half of the game.
Then play as lazy and lackadaisical as possible thereafter. Not even running a trap or playing defensive a defensive shell. Just plain old fashioned pond hockey to allow their opponents to mount a three goal comeback to end the third period of a blowout game.
The Leafs are about as playoffs ready as I've ever seen them.
