McMann scoring was sure great, but I noticed him a lot in his own end and on the PK, he really looked good, lot of good stick positioning, good at reading the pass and getting his stick in the way, good stuff from him!

That's what I refer to as a depth win, because while Nylander, Matthews and Tavares all had multiple point games they didn't lead the way tonight.
Tonight the depth got it done, the likes of Domi, Holmberg and Bobby Mac.

This has been discussed, but I just wanted to say that Domi looks freakin amazing playing with Matthews. Well beyond what I thought he could do.

There's only enough room for two non-physical defensemen on this roster and those two are Rielly and Liljegren. Gio and Brodie are past their primes and don't bring what we need to the lineup. They've been great soldiers but they are injury reserve at this point.

Loving his tenacity in puck battles, speed, and of course the vision. Domi/Matthews/Marner could be hellish to defend against, but Domi working with Matthews also opens up Marner to move around the lineup. Great development for us
I think guys like Domi and Bert and even Edmundson just had it in them that people(fans, GMs, MGTs and medias) tend to remember the performance of the players toward the end of the year. As cliche as it sounds, they have a switch in their head that they can just turn it on when needed.
I'll say that Timmins has impressed since his return to the lineup. The penalty was unfortunate, otherwise he was one of our stronger players tonight. He's an NHLer and giving up on him would be a mistake.

Saw a clip of the post game interview. Said it wasn’t what it appeared to be. I think most thought he tore his groin. I watched the play again. He made the same reaction as when I get leg cramps. Hopefully it’s something dumb like that. Keefe said he won’t miss any time so they must know it’s minor.

I don't mind having him and lyubushkin rotate games, timmins made some sweet moves to get out of the dzone when he had forecheckers on him, but I also like lyubushkins rugged style of play.
tbh I wouldn't mind rotating almost every defencemen apart from rielly, mccabe, and liljegren for every game until the last like 3. See what you have with everyone and make a good decision based off of what you have seen and what you will see when you give everyone a chance.
I know this is ONE game and Holmberg got two goals.
But I really think Domi and AM can be very effective together and their 3rd wheel ideally is playing for Edmonton now, but if looking at the Leafs when all forwards are healthy. Can something like this actually work in the playoffs.

With Timmins is about making the right play. He probably got the most offensive instincts beside Reilly on the team. But sometime, he overplays or just want to stay in the lineup too much and pushed played too much instead of making the safe and boring play.
Kind of interesting that Lilly wants to stay in the lineup by making plays which are way too safe.
If these two can add up together and divide into 2, we will have two very solid RHD.

Happy to read Sammy is not cooked.

If you're only playing him 5' don't dress Reaves.
