Overall I'd give gorts an a+ for the purge...not this trade which I'm iffy at best on..but taken as a whole..it's a massive home run.

I've soured tremendously on jt Miller...I don't know much about namestnikov but to me..if its even close..I'll take it. Jt strikes me as a guy you don't win with...I know that sounds cliche...but I just don't see it.

To me the rangers are going to sell zucc at the draft for sure. Its a foregone conclusion.

I expect them to re-sign Hayes long term and lock up Skjei namestnikov and spooner...I then expect us to suck balls next season and have a high draft pick again..and then sell off zibanejad spooner and namestnikov at that poi t. 3 year process. In that time we need those kids to develop.

This is now kreiders team imho.

So you see Kreider, Hayes, and Skjei as being here for the finshed product?

Hayes only has 1 RFA year left. He'll get more than a 2 year deal. Spooner only has 1 RFA year left as well.

If we aren't going to sign them for at least 3-4 years, we should probably just trade them now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hayes is moved, especially out west. But I think it needs to be a hockey deal if Hayes is moved.

Vesey: I'd be happy with a lefty righty swap for a guy that can fill a couple of different roles in the bottom six.

They would be very wise to lock up Hayes for a bit. Hes turning into a good matchup C and they'd be wise to see what they have with Spooner and Namestinkiov before letting them go.

I don't see why they would keep Kreider. Are the Rangers going to sign him long term at age 29? Doesn't make sense. Trade him too.

And it had little to do with the deal itself. I never wanted to trade McDonagh at all.

Also, I wasn't even that angry over the deal. What got me going was the Tampa cheerleading. f*** "Rangers South" I don't need anyone to win the Cup for me.

This is what I think too. No rush to get him out now, not like theyre looking for a mid-season shake up. Might as well ride the season out(if for nothing else, for the players sake, this last couple weeks must have been hell).

I love how every time someone mentions a rebuild certain people always bring up the same team. The Oilers don't know how to draft outside the top 5.

They also have a very difficult time augmenting their draft picks with FAs and trades because of their location. They are like the anti Rangers basically. Until this year at least, now that the Rangers have embraced the rebuild. Edmonton is not a useful comparison for many reasons.

Perhaps I'm prone to conspiracy theories, but something to chew on for fun... With Dolan coming out in support of this today, it would not shock me in the least if there is an under the table agreement somewhere that the Rangers are winning the lottery this year.

The decision to move on from McDonagh and the assets returned for him looks a lot different with a player like Dahlin in the wings. Fun to speculate about for sure, and honestly not something I'd be surprised to see happen in this league.

When Gorton didn’t answer the question about whether AV would remain coach, and said he would evaluate that in the offseason, we can only hope that means he is gone.

He has a great poker face when it comes to AV, I can’t get a read on what he thinks.

My opinion?

The entire coaching staff needs to be flushed out. AV, Ruff and Arniel.

Bring in Granato and Chelios and start from there.
