Yeah I remember when McDavid won his first Art Ross, it was those star players Pat Maroon and Lucic who absolutely carried McDavud

Every year or multiple times a year it's:

"Is Matthews better than McDavid?"

"Is Makar better than McDavid?"

"Is Draisaitl better than McDavid"

"Is Mackinnon better than McDavid?"

"Is Robertson going to outscore McDavid?"

"Why does Horvat have more goals than McDavid?"

What's the constant variable here? Other players come and go but McDavid is always the gold standard. That's why he's the undisputed best in the world right now, and this is coming from a Leafs fan.

McDavid has been scoring at well over a 1.5 PPG clip for almost 5 years now (1/1/2018 to present day). Think about that when you’re crowing about a 4 points in 5 games slump (or 5 in 6). He’s obviously going to nuclear again, possibly as early as this game that’s about to start.

Put aside your pointless allegiance to stitching on a sweater that you happen to be a fan of only by happenstance. You might become an actual hockey fan at that point and not just another knuckle dragging toadie.

True.

If betting odds for the Art Ross trophy were 1:1 McDavid vs The Field every year, you would have won money betting on McDavid in 4 out of his 7 seasons.

Besides the fact that I love the game and say I like Matthews with a straight while the OP can’t, yeah, exact same thing.

I’d rather enjoy it all in the moment than most of you who will only claim that it was a honor to watch when he’s about to retire.

It's an insane accomplishment. Another top 2 finish places him tied for 3rd all time.

Only Gretzky and Esposito did it in consecutive years.

He will definitely be number 2 eventually, just dont know if he goes top two for another 6 seasons afterwards. If anyone can though its him.
 
It has never been about Matthews and never will be. That's not my point. McDavid is better and always will be.

My point is he cannot outscore Bo Horvat, a third line center. That's all. Not sure how that is hard to accept. Furthermore for the ones questioning my intelligence, my family nd friends have consistently called me one of the smartest people they have ever met. I have two degrees and working on a third... I read about 100 non fiction books a year and many of them about hockey. So maybe you guys are the wrong ones.
