Every squirrel finds a nut here and there. Contract year. Look at his shooting % too.

Please list what Horvats numbers have been the last 5 years as well.

here is what makes 97 what he is.

Who are you going to bet say 1 million dollars on to win an Art Ross before a year starts? McDavid or a guy like Bo Horvat, Roberston, etc?
That doesn’t really mean anything though. Just because he has the best odds doesn’t mean he will win
Did you bet

Did you bet the laughable Leafs to win the Stanley Cup in the last few years?? Oh, wait...
why would I bet on the leafs? That would be a terrible decision considering their track record.

McDavid is amazing and, by a very clear margin, the best player in the league (and absolutely deserving of the term "generational").

But, in a way, you are right. Every year, come October/November, I hear about how McDavid is going to prove he's "better than Gretzky" and score 150 points. And, yet, it never happens.

One day, people will realize there is only one Gretzky.
Still waiting for him to be better than Crosby, Gretzky isn’t even consideration yet

And yet once again, the pundits predicting McDavid hitting 150 points are wrong.

Only 4 points in his last 5 and 12 in his last 10. Good, but not the generational level we expect.

Robertson (who?) about to pass him in points and Horvat, yes, Bo Horvat, now has more goals.

This happens every year with his hot start and inevitable cliff fall while he cruises and wins the art Ross by 4-5 points.

Say what you want but he’s not that far off his peers. Still the best, but might not even win the Ross with other players out playing him.
Wake me when Austin Matthews beats McDavid out for the Art Ross. 🥱

I agree. Kane leaving may have had something to do with it as well as that scrub Finnish player has 0 points in his last 15 games.

It’s crunch time though. Can’t get out scored by Jason Robertson 😹
Where was Kane for his first three Art Ross trophies?

You reaaly need to work on your attempts at humor.

0/2 in this thread.

McDavid could take the rest of the year off and still be levels above his peers. No one comes close to McDavid.

I’m sorry that Matthews scoring 11 goals in 24 games and not being the automatic 60-70 goal scorer your kind championed him as has led you to make such a thread about a player who is on his way to his 3rd consecutive Art Ross (5th overall), 3rd Hart, and 4th Lindsay.

McDavid has been scoring at well over a 1.5 PPG clip for almost 5 years now (1/1/2018 to present day). Think about that when you’re crowing about a 4 points in 5 games slump (or 5 in 6). He’s obviously going to nuclear again, possibly as early as this game that’s about to start.

Put aside your pointless allegiance to stitching on a sweater that you happen to be a fan of only by happenstance. You might become an actual hockey fan at that point and not just another knuckle dragging toadie.

McDavid's last 6 years have point finishes of 1,1,2,2,1,1. The only players in NHL history to have finished top 2 in points more times than McDavid are:

Gretzky - 13
Esposito- 8
Lemieux- 7
Howe - 7
Jagr - 7

It's an insane accomplishment. Another top 2 finish places him tied for 3rd all time.

Only Gretzky and Esposito did it in consecutive years.

Oh, I'm on the same page. Personally, I'd take Sid over him. But it's razor thin close.

Gretzky, on the other hand...
Depends if you want the speedy offensive minded forward or the more methodical two way play maker.

McDavid is likely to surpass Crosby when all is said and done though
