Horvat is currently at 23.3% shooting with a career avarage of 13.7%. He is on hell of a hot streak right now but when the season is over i would be surprised if he's still in the top 10 race.

McDavid isn’t slowing. He’s still incredible. What is apparent is even though he’s brilliant the team he plays for is really bad. If they were just average he could rise them up. But even as awesome as he is he can’t get them winnng. Great player on a very bad team.

Threads like these always devolve into Gretzky, Gretzky, Gretzky. Do you really think Gretzky on the 2022 Oilers could put up 215 points in a division with Hughes - Myers? Didn’t think so.

He's won 4 Art Ross trophies and is leading the league in points now. The only guys to win even just 4 Art Ross trophies in their careers are all among the best hockey players ever. So when you say "Only 4 points in his last 5 and 12 in his last 10. Good, but not the generational level we expect", you are intentionally making him seem much more average than he is. All the guys with 4+ Art Ross trophies went through stretches in which their production dipped.

Anyone who said Jagr, Gretzky, or Lemieux was close to their peers because they were only just above a PPG over a 10 game sample would have been called dumb for not looking at the bigger picture. That's what I'm saying about this thread in this case.
