McDavid heating up, what are odds on 150 points this season?

For interest sake, since everything McDavid is doing is since 1995-1996, I dug into the game logs to see how Lemieux and Jagr did through 60 team games, the same point we are with McDavid right now. I also took a look to see how Jagr fared when Mario wasn’t around.

Mario had 51 goals and 70 assists for 121 points in 51 games (60 team games). By his personal 60th game, he had 57 goals and 78 assists for 135 points. The team had played 70 games by this point.

Jagr had 52 goals and 60 assists for 112 points and played in all 60 games.

What I also found interesting is that in the 12 games Mario didn’t play that Jagr did, these were Jagr’s stats:

10 goals and 4 assists for 14 points in 12 games. So that’s 52 goals and 135 points in 70 games with Lemieux.

McDavid isn’t touching what Lemieux did, but I think his 48 goals and 65 assists for 113 points in 60 points has to be considered a bit more impressive than Jagr of that season.

Pretty crazy that only 5 guys have ever hit 150

Esposito
Gretzky
Lemieux
Yzerman
Nicholls

Interesting fact: Yzerman and Nicholls each accomplished the feat in 1988-1989, the year Lemieux got his 199 points

Also of note is that in that 1988-1989 season, Gretzky notched his 8th 160+ point season in 10 years up to that point. His two seasons not reaching it were his rookie year where had 137 points in 79 games and racked up 79 points in 40 second half games (158/80 games pace) and in the prior season of 1987-1988 where he had 149 points in 64 games, his first bout of missed time in his career.

Through 1988-1989, Gretzky owned more 150+ point seasons than the other 4 members combined by 3.

Through current day, his 9 150+ point seasons (which are all 163+) would still be one more than Esposito, Nicholls, Yzerman, Lemieux, and McDavid if he succeeds this season combined.

For all the people crapping on the Oilers, they're actually tied for second in regulation wins(which is what matters in the playoffs) with Toronto and Tampa. In the west they have 3 more RW than the Jets and Stars.

Edmonton is 2-6 after regulation in skills competitions, while first place Vegas is 9-6.

not really related to the Oilers but I just noticed looking at that that there's as big a gap in that stat between Boston and 2nd place as there is between 2nd place and 25th

that's just o_O

Hopefully he pots his 50th and also ties his second highest raw point total of 116 points tonight.

Currently #173 on the all-time scoring list. If he gets to 150 for the season, he’ll be 148th after just 8 seasons in the league.

Depending on what other players do and if he can somehow get to 1000 points by the end of next season, he’ll be inside the top 100 after just 9 seasons.
