Short elbows do almost as much damage as those highlight reel diving spinning back elbows, particularly when they are unexpected. Don't forget that both hockey players skate at high speeds.

Just because McDavid takes a lot of punishment doesn't make him elbowing another player acceptable or excusable. Particularly Mojo, a very clean player with little physicality and long concussion history.

A 4cm movement in the elbow? With skating momentum and today's elbow pads, sure damage can be done. But I'm not questioning whether it hurt Johanssen or not. I'm questioning McDavid's motive and intention. He's not throwing elbows with 4cm movements to target and take players out.

This is about the unprecedented amount of abuse McDavid takes and the laughable and statistically verifiable low amount of calls he gets. And in my 30+ years of watching this game I have NEVER seen anything like it, on any player.

Yeh more dirt happened in the 90s. But relative to the league standard, no ONE player took more dirt than than any other on the level that McDavid takes it today relative to his peers and today's standard.

Wasn't an elbow sir. That was an illegal check to the head. With the shoulder to the side of Leddy's head. A mistimed body check with Leddy leaned and hunched over immediately after taking a shot on net.

Like you said, different time, not sure some of these guys skating today would have made it... Sydney Crosby would of been out of the league if he played through the 90's. Same with some others like Patrick Kane, etc.

It's extremely hard for me to say McDavid receives more abuse on ice than guys like Lindros(not the only guy) who's career's were ended because guys keep taking run on/at them on the ice. It's a pretty "subjective" arguement imo based mostly on who you're watching... You're a west coast guy and I'm a east coast watcher, I'm sure our prospectives are different just based on viewing.

I rejected the premise of your point. Cause I'm not in this thread complaining about fans complaining about their Player being hurt. And my reply to you is the same, we often just let it go and look the other way, cause it happens so damn often we've become desensitized to it. Then I provided examples of us NOT complaining or making threads about it, when we could every single game and sometimes twice a game.

Also Lindro gave as good as he got, but he didn't target heads he just charged at guys and crushed them into the boards. That was the game back then. But relative to his peers and relative to the game's current day standard, t's not the same as the consistent and constant ignored abuse and infraction McDavid gets.

Man... Lindros could barely stay healthy from everyone taking shots. Not just head shots, but it's cool I don't care enough to keep going. Touche, McDavid is the most dogged on healthy super-star we've all ever seen.

He wasn't ever healthy ever, thats what you don't understand, it wasn't just head-shots... but you didn't watch him like I said so you wouldn't know he missed 20 games annually his whole career because teams beat the hell out of him. Legit only a handful of years with 70+ games and thats even before the head-shots near the end.

And compared to the standard at that time you would say he took more abuse than anyone else in the League by a country mile? Or maybe it was the fact that Lindros himself hit to hurt himself and players took it upon themselves to find retribution. Or maybe it was because of Lindros play style that often exposed him to getting rocked on open ice.
