A 4cm movement in the elbow? With skating momentum and today's elbow pads, sure damage can be done. But I'm not questioning whether it hurt Johanssen or not. I'm questioning McDavid's motive and intention. He's not throwing elbows with 4cm movements to target and take players out.Short elbows do almost as much damage as those highlight reel diving spinning back elbows, particularly when they are unexpected. Don't forget that both hockey players skate at high speeds.
Just because McDavid takes a lot of punishment doesn't make him elbowing another player acceptable or excusable. Particularly Mojo, a very clean player with little physicality and long concussion history.
Must have missed most games in the 90's bud. Basically, not even the same game now.I know my hockey. I can fully admit Drai, Nurse, and Kane have done questionable things. But this isn't about whether the Oilers make dirty plays or not, we take and we give.
This is about the unprecedented amount of abuse McDavid takes and the laughable and statistically verifiable low amount of calls he gets. And in my 30+ years of watching this game I have NEVER seen anything like it, on any player.
Yeh more dirt happened in the 90s. But relative to the league standard, no ONE player took more dirt than than any other on the level that McDavid takes it today relative to his peers and today's standard.Must have missed most games in the 90's bud. Basically, not even the same game now.
Your 30 years is only credible to yourself no one cares.
Explain how was it on purpose when McDavid was looking the other way?. He didn’t see Johansson. Yeah the guy without a history of dirty hits totally tried to pull a fast one.
This thread isn’t about “the abuse McDavid takes”. You’ve tap danced around my point.I know my hockey. I can fully admit Drai, Nurse, and Kane have done questionable things. But this isn't about whether the Oilers make dirty plays or not, we take and we give.

Wasn't an elbow sir. That was an illegal check to the head. With the shoulder to the side of Leddy's head. A mistimed body check with Leddy leaned and hunched over immediately after taking a shot on net.How does McDavid not have a history when he was suspended 2 games for elbowing Leddy in the head?
Like you said, different time, not sure some of these guys skating today would have made it... Sydney Crosby would of been out of the league if he played through the 90's. Same with some others like Patrick Kane, etc.Yeh more dirt happened in the 90s. But relative to the league standard, no ONE player took more dirt than than any other on the level that McDavid takes it today relative to his peers and today's standard.
I rejected the premise of your point. Cause I'm not in this thread complaining about fans complaining about their Player being hurt. And my reply to you is the same, we often just let it go and look the other way, cause it happens so damn often we've become desensitized to it. Then I provided examples of us NOT complaining or making threads about it, when we could every single game and sometimes twice a game. This thread isn’t about “the abuse McDavid takes”. You’ve tap danced around my point.
If this happened to McDavid, how would you feel? And be honest
Nah man haven’t you read the thread? McDavid never does anything wrong.Clearly moved his elbow to purposely hit him in the face. Dirty play, and McDouche %100 should be suspended for an intentional haedshot.
Lol. It’s a simple question, brother. If this elbow was against McDavid, would you feel the same way?I rejected the premise of your point. Lindros career ended cause of some huge singular head shots. Not like he was taking head shots every single game. He took monster ones a couple times in his career here and there. Also Lindro gave as good as he got, but he didn't target heads he just charged at guys and crushed them into the boards. That was the game back then. But relative to his peers and relative to the game's current day standard, t's not the same as the consistent and constant ignored abuse and infraction McDavid gets.Like you said, different time, not sure some of these guys skating today would have made it... Sydney Crosby would of been out of the league if he played through the 90's. Same with some others like Patrick Kane, etc.
It's extremely hard for me to say McDavid receives more abuse on ice than guys like Lindros(not the only guy) who's career's were ended because guys keep taking run on/at them on the ice. It's a pretty "subjective" arguement imo based mostly on who you're watching... You're a west coast guy and I'm a east coast watcher, I'm sure our prospectives are different just based on viewing.
Isn't it obvious? I would not like it. But what does it matter? I never complained about Wild fans not liking it either. So you are trying this gotcha question that doesn't apply. But your question is if the Oilers fanbase would complain about it incessantly, and like I said, we let alot of shit go and provided the examples for exactly that.Nah man haven’t you read the thread? McDavid never does anything wrong.
Lol. It’s a simple question, brother. If this elbow was against McDavid, would you feel the same way?
The way you’re acting proves that you wouldn’t feel the same way.
Answer the question
Nope. My question from the very beginning was how you guys would feel about this play. That’s it.Lindros career ended cause of some huge singular head shots. Not like he was taking head shots every single game. He took monster ones a couple times in his career here and there. Also Lindro gave as good as he got, but he didn't target heads he just charged at guys and crushed them into the boards. That was the game back then. And it would be a good one, if I had said no one should be complaining about their player being elbowed. But I never said that.Nope. My question from the very beginning was how you guys would feel about this play. That’s it.
Yes, but I never asked that. And it would be a good one, if I had said no one should be complaining about their player being elbowed. But I never said that.

I said his intention was not to elbow the guy in the face and hurt him. And no I didn't admit it was dirty play, but i did admit an elbow hit Johannseem. You turned this conversation into one about dirty plays in GENERAL, with the question "IF hypothetically McDavid got hurt in a dirty play would'nt you be mad"? The answer is Yes. But again, now follow along here, I never said in the first place that people shouldn't complain, so your question makes no sense.Yes, but I never asked that.
You guys claim it was clean and McDavid didn’t mean to do it. But you yourself just admitted that it was a dirty play and you’d be upset if it happened to McDavid. So what the hell are we talking about? It was a dirty play
I did. And Legion of Doom line was my favorite for a long stretch. He didn't take head shots on a daily basis. He took a number of HUGE head shots scattered throughout his career, each one taking a piece of his brain away until he couldn't play.Man, I for sure now know you didn't watch Lindros.

He wasn't ever healthy ever, thats what you don't understand, it wasn't just head-shots... but you didn't watch him like I said so you wouldn't know he missed 20 games annually his whole career because teams beat the hell out of him. Legit only a handful of years with 70+ games and thats even before the head-shots near the end.I did. And Legion of Doom line was my favorite for a long stretch. He didn't take head shots on a daily basis. He took a number of HUGE head shots scattered throughout his career, each one taking a piece of his brain away until he couldn't play.
And I would answer again, Yes. But my homeristic rage or that of Wild fans, have no bearing on whether McDavid intended to throw and elbow to hurt a guy. We talking fan responses now, which aren't always based in rationality. Anyways, have a good one.I never asked if you would be mad if McDavid got hurt in a dirty play if you would be mad. I asked if you would be mad if this exact play happened to McDavid if you would be mad.
You’re a professional arguer and you aren’t very good at it, dude.
Have a beer and have a good night man
And compared to the standard at that time you would say he took more abuse than anyone else in the League by a country mile? Or maybe it was the fact that Lindros himself hit to hurt himself and players took it upon themselves to find retribution. Or maybe it was because of Lindros play style that often exposed him to getting rocked on open ice.He wasn't ever healthy ever, thats what you don't understand, it wasn't just head-shots... but you didn't watch him like I said so you wouldn't know he missed 20 games annually his whole career because teams beat the hell out of him.
You're being captain hindsight about his very well-KNOWN headshots/migraines.
