Won't be hyperbolic for anyone that watches him play on the regular. And by abuse I mean infracted as well. Hooks, holds, intereferences, slashes, trips, punches to the face, takedowns to the ice, etc etc. ain't no one takes more of that without getting calls than McDavid in this League. It's a thing that every Oilers fan has seen. And it's not a thing with the Matthews of the world. Or the Makar's of the world. Or any other superstar in today's League. No one gets it like McDavid.

True. And yet not one elbow or fight was directed McDavid's way in this game from the Wild. Could it be cause they realize it was incidental and not intentionally dirty to try to injure one of their players.

I had to rewatch that a few times just to see the contact even in slowmo, and at normal speed its basically impossible for me to catch. Based on the OPs vid not confident that was intentional.

Maybe. But did you see the response right after the hit? Johanssen lying on the ice, after throwing his helmet off. Not even a scrum or a stern talking to directed at McDavid. Not even a message from the benches after that wouldn’t have invited a penalty. They left McD completely alone as if he did nothing.

McDavid definitely gives him an excuse me tap, but it doesn't appear anywhere near hard enough to illicit the response by Johannsson. I could see 2 minutes for elbowing and 2 minutes for embellishment.

Yep, it's an elbow. With how the game is officiated, it's not a surprise that there was no call - star players do no wrong in the eyes of the league or the refs.

Looked like he slightly stuck out his elbow maybe a couple inches to impede him, but he wasn't looking at him and Johansson whipped his body around drastically which is why he got a glancing blow to the chin. McDavid can't really anticipate the movement that Johansson made and he's not even looking at him to react to the movement. Should have been 2 minutes, maybe deserves a fine, but a lot of mitigating factors that will probably prevent this from being a suspension. Looks like a pick play gone wrong.
