What a slave driver, imagine your co-worker telling you to cut your vacation and come to work 2 weeks early and leave your family....lol.

Bump this thread a couple weeks into the playoffs.

Vincent Desharnais had an interview and talked about his road in getting to the NHL and his struggles with depression and anxiety. He said this about McDavid after a playoff game.

McDavid: “I just want to f***in’ win.”

One final story from the interview, this about playing with Connor McDavid. Early in the Los Angeles series this year, there was a play where Edmonton was scored on and Desharnais felt he probably could have shut down the play. McDavid was on the ice and got a -1 in goals plus-minus.

“We all got minus one, and obviously, like I know his stats, and so after the game I went to see him. I’m like, ‘Hey man, like, sorry. That was a bad pass on me. Dash one is on me. I’m sorry, dude.’ And he turned around. He looked at me and he was, like, ‘Dude, I don’t care about the stats. I just want to f*ckin win.’ It was not like staged. He legit turned and, ‘Listen, I just want to f*ckin’ win.’ And I’m like, ‘All right, got it, Captain.’ I was like, that’s awesome, that’s what I want to hear. I was so fired up. I was like, ‘Dude, you tell me that right now, that’s awesome.’ And like people always tell me, ‘Oh, Connor is points.’ But when playoffs show up, you better show up, because he’s going to war. He’s showed me that he’s he’s not just a skill guy, he’s not a point guy, he’s a player. He’s a hockey player.”

I like the attitude McDavid is showing these days.

If players were not showing up before he (McDavid) said anything it would say more about his ability as captain than if he said it while all/most of them were already in town.

Since the Oilers are all/mostly there already it's a nothing fluff piece.

Must be frustrating to have a teammate care about plus minus of all stats...in the playoffs

But yeah, I think fans dont often think both are compatible, but an elite, competitive player will by default put up a lot of pts bc they train like maniacs and are obssessed with improving every day

Doesn't seem all that unusual does it? Maybe for a player to ask others it is, but it seems like a good portion of the players get a head start on camp anyway.

To be honest, it seems like the article might be embellishing the “ask” part of the story anyway. The quotes they’ve got from him make it sound more like it was a natural thing.

Scrolling through some of their other articles, it’s clickbait headline after clickbait headline, so not super surprising.

My nephew shares many of the same 'mannerisms' as Connor and he's been after me constantly to come to Kamp as well. Apparently it's become a phenomena within the community. I'm so glad Connor is happy and willing to share his interests with his teammates

Wow that just further cements it for me. The fact that they lose a playoff game and one of his teammates feels the need to go over and apologize to him for giving him a -1. Sure he says it’s only the game that matters but it’s quite clear that everyone around him feels otherwise.

No one cared why Pie did before, they sure as hell won’t be doing anything now. Pure class to wish an injury upon someone though
Why wouldn't they? The only reason it worked is because nurse is a moron and got suspended also. If you can abuse the guy enough to make him take a suspension, you keep doing that.

Edmonton isn’t a team that can afford to go head hunting, start going after other teams star players and you damn well know the rest of the league will take notice and start giving it back. Edmonton is built to win on the scoresheet, not the extra curricular activities

The excerpt: McDavid tells teammate he just wants to win
You: Wow, this just tells me all he cares about is points.

He's a Canucks fan. Not used to teammates looking after each other. He wouldn't get it
