As time goes on it becomes more clear that mcdavid is missing something that the true all time greats had. He is not cut from the same cloth

Say what you want about his playoff numbers. I see straight through them like fish tanks wit no fish in them
ahahahahah man I should really make sure I go back further so I can see your earliest dog shit take.

Thanks for giving me a laugh on this Friday morning you are truly something else.

Did you watch crosby that run. He did everything that was needed. Faceoffs. Back checking leadership etc. He played exactly how you want your best player and captain to play. Gtfo with that nonsense.
Yes McDavid should really consider playing worse

I'd suggest booting up the latest version of the long running "NHL" franchise by EA Sports and making some trades then
Obviously not saying it's gonna happen but it would be the ultimate centre duo in my mind. Let Mcdavid take the passanger seat in both leadership and responsibility and we'd see point totals at the next level - historical even. Connor is one of the best to ever play but he needs someone to take the weight off his shoulders both mentally an physically.

Tkachuk - Stützle - Giroux
Kubalik - Mcdavid - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - TaraSENko

Easy best top 9 in the league right there and that's not even counting the likes of Joseph or Smejkal

One of the (many) ways I know I am "old" is to go from dissecting the annoyances of Crosby in real time to feeling the urge to defend him from mind-numbingly ignorant takes of those who either never truly watched him play or just flat-out poop out of their mouths. Crosby is a Top-10 all-time talent. And, while Crosby was a b***h he was never a flat-out p***y as McDavid is.
Ya. It's gotten to a point where it used to be head hanging embarrassing for Crosby when he'd have his fits and complain and take the extra 2, then I look back and I'm like "Oh, he was 18, 19, 20 when he was doing it..." McDavid still whines like Crosby used to and he's 26 and hasn't dealt with half the dirty/cheap shots Crosby did as a young player.

Sure makes your back extra sore to sit around and yell at the clouds about how "Back when Sid was young, the league was actually tough!", too.

It's nice to day dream but this will never happen.

It's pretty incredible that Crosby became a bad captain and played like a winger between his age 22 and age 27 seasons, and then starting in 15/16 turned it right back on again to doing things the right way like he left off in 2009. Guess he just didn't feel like winning cups in the meantime.

tbh, McDavid should be stripped captaincy. Oilers are the laziest team in NHL with the worst work ethic, how many seasons in a row?
I honestly don’t think it’s a McDavid issue, I think it’s a coaching/roster issue.

Hyman, Kane, Nuge, Nurse, Brown…. All underperforming to start the season.

Woodcroft already neutered the team by playing 5on5 likes it’s a powerplay and stacked the top line. He refuses to build chemistry without McDavid and Draisaitl together, he refuses to properly split powerplay time between two units. He needs to treat McDavid like a typical hockey player and stop forcing the team on his back. Build some f***ing confidence in your bottom 9

But I don't think it's the coach's job to handle work ethic, I think that the coach's job is to handle stuff like lineups, tactics, play style, and so on. The captain and the rest of the leaders should be the voice in the locker room that establishes comradery and makes everyone put in the effort for their teammates.

Woodcroft has been coaching for just a short while, but this lack of care and effort has been going on for far longer.

Nuge??

He has 6 points in 4 games and was +3 before the game started. He had a horrendous game last night but overall he's been great.

2 decent games and a compete ghosts in the other 2 games, 50% of his points are on the powerplay. His stat line looks good overall but the consistency isn’t there game to game.

I will agree with you though, he is far less of a problem than the others

McGM will be making another head coaching change soon.
I don't think we will see any changes this season, the off season will be interesting though as Holland is more than likely not returning, so the new guy + Jackson may want someone else in Woodys place

Dunno, this season already has that strong vibe of Tippet's last season.
Every coach so far has done the exact same thing, so why go through the PR of hiring yet another new coach in the McDavid era when you can save face and do it in the offseason with less speculation.

Edmonton is off to a rocky start:
Heavily outplayed in 2 games
Did well in 1 game
Did really well in 1 game

This is a playoff team however and as the season goes on a suspect they will get better, they are not a .250 team
