When your top guys have completely tuned him out - including your newest acquisition, Ott, who doesn't flinch when Ruff talks to him on the bench, doesn't concur with anything or nod acknowledge - it's time for a change.

I've noticed this as well with Ott. Not sure if its been discussed previously. The look on Ott's face says "Dude, get your coffee breath off my neck."

The offical "Fire Ruff NOW!" thread

Fire Ruff now.

Buffalo won't win anything as long as he is here. Can't stand this guy anymore.. Coud someone in Buffalo start a demo against ruff? Go onto the streets, go tho the sabres office. Make some noise. RUFF needs.to go.

The guy, who gives Jochen hecht more ice time than the nhl leading scorer needs to go.

The way he handles our young players is just BS! players like hecht/Leopold (their talent level is zero) create turnover after turnover and can't clear the ****ing zone but myers and grigs have to sit?

**** you lindy ruff. Retire already. I'm sick of you. Just leave my hockey team, old senile *******.

It might be time to move on, but people need to realize Ruff is far from the #1 problem.

Scotty Bowman couldn't win anything with the roster Ruff's had since 2007.

I tweeted this after the game, but I'd say (if we aren't there already) we're one more bad showing, win or lose, from Ruff entering the Dick Jauron Zone. The parallels, other than the longevity, are obvious: boring, uninspired play and a coach that's appeared the have checked out.

What happened to the old, climbing-on-the-bench-to-attempt-to-kill-the-Ottawa-coach Lindy Ruff? There's no fire there, and it's evident in the team's play. Pominville is a great captain, but he's not a fiery leader by any means. There's too much nonchalance in this team, and one of the leaders needs to have the cajones to fire the boys up.

That falls on Lindy, and it's plenty obvious that he's not doing his job. How he remains in it, to the degree that he has, is beyond me.

I think we all know Ruff isn't the only problem this team has, but it's not very hard to argue he's the biggest.

If you are going to fire Ruff make it a package deal with Darcy....R&R gone - Let Black fire both of them because it's obvious Darcy won't fire Lindy...They are too close of buddies.

Darcy can stay.
Ruff can go.

Job security.

We do, even if it's a bubble playoff team.

It's REALLY depressing to think that Lindy Ruff's tenure has been twice as long as the Pope's, and if you had asked me last night whose more likely to last longer in their positions, I don't think I would have said Lindy.

I actually wouldn't mind so much if we evem seemed to be standing still, which would be bad enough, it's the fact that we are actually going backwards, which to me suggests a fresh set up is needed, and sooner the better.

This team is a reflection of its personnel. It's been mismanaged for 6 years. But I understand that blaming the coach is easiest.

Personnel is often what gets coaches fired. But they still get fired. Especially when things are stale. And they're most definitely stale right now. The personnel is not up to snuff, but I don't think people are out of line asserting that the coach isn't exactly maximizing what he does have.

(I'm fine with Regier walking out the door right behind him, by the way.)

It may be years of mismanagement, but how does that alter the fact that sometimes things need to change...at what point do you say enough is enough. its a two way street, if the players arent performing you have to ask yourself why...

I've been a staunch defender of Ruff for much of the last few years, as I tend to hold the players responsible for playing poorly.

However, watching this team, and this defense, it just looks out of sync, and poorly coached. Players that have previously played quiet well look like they don't know what to do, or when to do it. From my experience that's a coaching problem.

I think it's time. I will always love Ruff as a coach, and don't question his ability or passion. He just doesn't seem to be getting through to his players anymore in a way that can produce results.
