Facts are:

A. The Finns didn't deserve to be in the playoffs to begin with.

B. The win against Canada was an outright crime in terms of puck luck.

Any team playing in the playoffs deserve to be there. No matter what you think of the teams on paper. Luck is a part of the game, sometimes it decides a game, especially these one game elimination games, but that's just how this game is.

Bob is pretty much the only player on the Russian team that I respect. Great goalie and seems like a classy guy from what I know.

Not sure who else though. Maybe Zaripov? He seems to just go about his business and play hockey instead if engaging in all that drama theater.

I have tremendous respect for Ovie and Malkin. Both guys can be hard to like at times, but they are amazing hockey players. Future Hall of Famers.

honestly, it was painful to watch our hockey. Finns have a system, we don't.

They easily wre entering our zone, they were faster, and outplayed us 5v5. Then it was mad up call, 5v3 and we scored.

I don't like this win.

Congratz to Russia with Ovechkin and Malkin are their team you knew they would most likely win.

Also to Finland, I don't know many of the players but still did very well.

Ovy was not a factor, Malkin was, only on the PP though.

This team won because it played well. Most of them had never even played at the worlds / Olympics, but Znarok knew exactly what he was doing. :handclap:

Too bad otherwise great game was greatly disturbed by the bad referees. Few blatant calls left uncalled on both sides and they go and pretty much hand out penalties when ever someone falls down.

Losing the game doesn't matter, that I expected. The terrible (even in World Championship standards) reffing however ruined the game for me.

What did he do?

He's looked like a serial killer on that guy giving him a medal. He was already heading away with the medal and looked back at him with absolute angriness in his face. That was ****ing priceless.

well, Finland played better hockey 5v5. Congrats to finn fans, you have good team and coach.
Thanks and enjoy. But this one is tough. I can get ower home team getting a few calls, but this is Canada Cup '87 embarassing level refing. Sad and IIHF needs to do something. But Russia fought hard as a team, respect and have a good party.

Before the Finns started gooning it up (the last two penalties), they had gotten only one more penalty than the Russians.

No excuses, the better team won. We had our chances, but we couldn't capitalize on them. The Russians did and that's why they won. Russia was dominant throughout the tournament, and they deserved the win.

I'm not even mad, this was expected. Russia was the most talented team and they played almost on home ice. Finland fought well though, they did all they could. Congrats Russia.

Ovie scoring a lightning fast game tying goal = non factor?

5 on 5 it was a very even game. Russia was just too lethal on the pp. Some of the calls were a bit soft but I don't buy the conspiracy bs at all. Finland had a problem of taking penalties throughout the tournament. We had the chances to tie it, just couldn't finish. Rinne bailed us out numerous times too.

It was a great story for Finland. Started the tournament horribly, lucky to even make it to top 8. Everyone bashing the team. Then a surprise win over Canada and a very good win over Czech. Finally a great battle against Russia, very even game and a huge improvement over the first match against them. So many new core players for the national team.

Very proud of this team!

the reffing was bad and finns were better than expected. we won so we are better it's as simple as than, to give credit for the win to refs, putin and some other passers-by is just pathetic

Best WC ever? Great job by Belarus.

At least it is up there. I think they broke the attendance record? Over 600.000 people watched the games live.

Happe to see the WC having success. It has a lot of quality hockey and the tournament has been pissed on too much.

Well done Russia. Davai Rossia !!

Well fought for Finland.

And if refering was good all the line, Finland wouldn't be in QF because Switzerland lost 3 points against the US fully thanks to wrong refering (2 canceled goals that were 100% right) ... in other words you wouldn't be in QF.

But no misunderstanding ... well done Finland, you did amazing with the team you had. respect.

True. Because of referees these tournament are more or less trowing a dize. Switzerland actually deserved QF place. That US game's 2 canceled goals was the worst refereeing I've ever seen.

That's how he looks all the time.

Gongratulations to Russians. Better team won, especially on power play. I would have liked to see that referees would have allowed a bit more "playing", more 5-5...
