They've played poorly, yes, but they do have talent. On paper they're much better than they were in the opening round.

Maybe it's a case of starting slow and ending strong. Either way, today's result doesn't suprise me in the least.

Starting really really.. really slow.. Nothing working. Without Rinne we would not be here. Canada had much better players.. So for them to lose against our team is truly something amazing.

The fact that we got help from Scrivens doesn't change the fact how bad this team still is. Though they are the most inconsistent country in international hockey, the Czechs are still the heavy favorite in the semi.

Actually, Finns say this pretty much every time, and it's not even jinxing, most of our fans just love to badmouth our team. And, and, this wasn't the first time we played a bad round robin but raised our game just in time. Should we still, after all these years, be surprised?

And, can I ask how many great chances Canada really did have in 5-5 game? Yes, lots of possession, lots of skating in the corners and lots of shots, but how many great chances?

Fellow Canadian fans - lets show some class, congrats to Finland. Ignore the trollers, every fan base has its share of douches.
But lets not pretend like we don't care, obviously if we're here posting, we want to see Canada win...that being said its not a best on best tourny so certainly doesn't prove much...other then we're not very good at this tournament lol

Except you're not WINNING. Which it's all about.

Need a few in-prime players with start quality

Unfortunately for Canada, other countries apparently send teams to these events. The players that want to go can go and play their hearts out. Be proud to play with the leaf on their jersey for once and go for it. They are getting benefit from playing and maybe sometimes they win. There is much more important things to these players than winning the WC. Mainly money to be made in their career by honing their skills.

Canada should start taking this tournament more seriosuly, where are all the 25-35 year olds that didn't make the playoffs or was eliminated early? Malkin went to Russia but Crosby stayed home...

At this point the gap between the NHL's and IIHF's goals appears to be too large. The IIHF wants to keep this tournament Euro-focused in scheduling and hosting locations to make money (European TV deals), which diminishes its appeal to North American players and fans because it is being held as a consolation tournament running against the more important NHL playoffs (few NA players want to make sacrifices to attend a second tier tournament overseas), which reinforces the IIHF's desire to cater to the European hockey markets (because why change things to appeal to fans that do not care). This is amplified further in an Olympic year, where the Canadian Olympians (e.g., Crosby) feel they have little left to prove internationally in 2014. It will take a disruptive force to break this cycle.

Just enjoy your win. Are you going to start telling everyone how to react now? Give it a rest.

Honestly, congrats Finland for winning..THE TRUTH is no one from Sochi was on this team. Again I'll repeat, JAMES REIMER AND BEN SCRIVENS were our goalies, TYLER MYERS getting like top 4 mins...just not good enough. Why would anyone be mad??? The roster wasn't good enough.

The reading comprehension isn't your strongest area clearly, give it another go. :help:

Just let the Finns be glad for the win. I don't crush my kids dreams about the Tooth Fairy either. Sometimes letting people enjoy things is the right thing to do.

You are aware that most of our best players are currently playing in the NHL right?

Crosby, Getzlaf, Perry, Stamkos, Weber, etc. etc. etc. etc.

No, you could ice a team that would be favorite to win the Olympic gold. It's just that the WC doesn't matter to you guys as much. Can't blame you tough.

Wasn't good enough to beat a team full of Finnish league's All Stars?
What? That finnish team aint "team full of finnish league's all stars".

Surprising win. Rinne >>> Scrivens. But Czechz are going to kill us.

How did Rinne score his hat trick? Were there even assists?

Please. Did you even watch the games? Rinne was the only reason why we had change to win the games. Our powerplay has been totally shaitt.. Even strenght changes we didnt create at all. Maybe 2 or 3 semi changes to score each game.

SM Liga better then NHL?

Quote of the century

Canada needs more talented players to come, too bad that won't ever happen.

what's funny is that you and others keep saying "you care" you care, you care, you care...enoughhhhh just accept that we don't care. Yes it sucks that we lost, but honestly, good on Finland for winning. We didn't have a good enough team. Plus like others have said we won the bigger tournament..You can't force people to care when they don't. I'm more baffled at Tyler Myers and how bad he is.

Also when it's Rinne vs. Scrivens...that's not even fair, can't even compare Scrivens to Rinne at all. The goaltending issue was a terrible match-up for us.

5. The one thing that we lack -- a coach with experience in these kinds of games. And NO Stanley Cup games are different. Different atmosphere, different ice, and the team chemistry is different. A national team coach who is an expert in bringing guys together on short notice is what is needed. That way we can more properly fuel the talent we have for these kinds of moments

Best Comment, but do you think Team Canada knows. I hope we can get Belarus' coach next year.

Canada has made a bid to host once and they got it in 2008. Is it the IIHF's fault if Canada isn't bidding more?

It's somewhow amazing. Most Finns in this board called this team only a B- or even C-team and they managed to advance to semifinal.
May be they even reach the final game.

Congratulations Finland, I didn't expect it at all.

Good enough team :handclap::laugh::D:naughty::laugh::laugh: Really?

congrats finland. good luck in your next round.

only watched small bits of this game... unfortunately it included that terrible second goal that scrivens let in. oh well.

Some people might actually care though. You can't tell him he doesn't. There was a couple bummered looking Canadians at that game, they might care too.

Just not enough of these people. I think if Canada cared more then more stars would go to it. The timing is awful though, just don't see it happening unless they move the tourney to later in the summer.

There is no problem that most of you dont care about this tournament. (I dont care that much also, of course olympics >>>>>> this tournament.) But when you come and tell that "I dont care, I dont cry because of this lose, hey do you remember olympics" -thing right after loss it just looks like sore loser and insecurity. Nothing else.
