what happened to all the "this is worst team Finnand" posters? I hate when people cushion the potential loss like that....Congrats to the faithful fans, and hope to see you soon :)

It wasn't cushioning. This team is still the worst team Finland I remember, this doesn't change it. Rinne is better than Scrivens, but the Canadians should still be ashamed of themselves for losing to this Finland.

Canada should start taking this tournament more seriosuly, where are all the 25-35 year olds that didn't make the playoffs or was eliminated early? Malkin went to Russia but Crosby stayed home...

Who the hell knows. In 2007 we had many verterans, and just a crappy team to our more competitive teams put in 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009. The last four years have been nothing but youth teams. CLEARLY it's not working.

I'm also surprised at some of the stupidity at some of the posters talking trash to Canada right after the game, as if they were ready waiting to post the bad messages. AFAIK, most Canadians have been pretty cool with posting and supporting other nationalteams in this tournament and in the Olympics this year. Obviously compared to the past, were Canadian posters were more annoying and boisterous; the Canadian posters this year seem way more nice than before.

It feels so weird that this team made it to the medal round. We've had much better teams that were eliminated in the QF.

Because it's embarassing for a country whose slogan basically is "hockey is our game" to not have won this tournament since 2007, haven't really been close to winning either.

More players in their prime with star status, the giroux, crosbys etc needs to be on, not only 18-21 year old single guys called mackinnon and monahan.

-a lot of the best players are playing in the playoffs at this time
-a lot of them refuse due to injury
-a lot them don't wanna fly halfway around the world after completing a grueling 82-game schedule and playoffs

I completely understand why they don't wanna go...this is an annual European tourny that doesn't mean much to them compared to the Olympics (only once in 4 year thing...) nor the Cup

it really is the worst team. 16 "never heard of" rookies. it's amazing that they made it this far tho..Rinne is elite.

This is clear proof that Liiga is better than Nhl, but not by far margin

gotcha

This is my favorite post here.

This is an unwinnable situation for both sides.

Canadians really don't put much value on this event, but will follow it anyways because we're hockey addicts.

Other teams think this tournament is massive and so are offended when USA/CAN fans downplay the importance of it.

No one is going to win the argument. So might as well have some fun, lighthearted posts like the one I quoted! Good job!

It still is. 2 lucky goals don't change that..

Seriously we need to look into a national team coach.

Someone with BIG ICE experience.

no we don't. We just kicked ass in Russia a few months ago. What we need is plain and simple better players. James Reimer and Ben freakin Scrivens were our goalies...And we had Godzilla playing top 4 minutes. Somebody tell Myers that his psychiatrist is waiting to start his next appointment. Myers should be in prison for stealing 6 million dollars a year from Buffalo.

Pretty disappointing tournament for Canada. Main thing is to get some experience for players who may contribute to Canada's actual team in the future, but MacKinnon is the only likely candidate. Winning would also be nice, and now that's not happening either.

I didn't see the game, but the result is not a surprise. As most Canadians said earlier, Canada relies on a massive talent edge to beat Finland most often. This team (from a Canadian perspective) was basically putrid. The players involved deserve some blame for a wasted tournament, as does the management at Hockey Canada, as well as the young elligible players who refused to go. Winning this tournament is not important, but gaining valuable experience is. Canada gained essentially nothing from the 2014 WC.

The fact that we got help from Scrivens doesn't change the fact how bad this team still is. Though they are the most inconsistent country in international hockey, the Czechs are still the heavy favorite in the semi.

Hahaha, there's nothing better than reading the posts of Canadian posters stating "how they don't care" or how Canada had its "B team" playing. Thank you for the win Finland!

Myers and Scrivens may have cost this game but there are other players that should have come but opted to stay home.

I dont like to be so hard on players who chose to come and play for their country when their season was over instead of starting their vacation early.
