Because it's embarassing for a country whose slogan basically is "hockey is our game" to not have won this tournament since 2007, haven't really been close to winning either.

More players in their prime with star status, the giroux, crosbys etc needs to be on, not only 18-21 year old single guys called mackinnon and monahan.
 
I honestly dont fault many of the Canadian players. All of them played hard, and there was a definite buy-in to the system.

Also, I think if used right, this roster could have easily made the finals.

For me, Tippett coached like a fool this tournament. And he paid the price in the end.

Congrats to the Finns though. Well deserved win.
 
Congrats Finland... I hope you steal another gold medal.

since I didn't expect this edition of Team Canada to even reach the 1/4 finals...they exceeded my expectations.

see you next year at the Skoda Invitational.
 
Congrats to Finland. It's nice to see a country that actually cares gain some success. That's why I like seeing the upsets from France and stuff as well. It's really to the point where Canada and the USA should just not even bother sending teams. Pretty much a waste of time for the North American clubs at this point and with the injury risks it's a net negative to even bother attending.
 
I'm not disappointed in the loss; I am disappointed in the lack of Canadians going to this tournament these days. Pittsburgh gets eliminated and Malkin shows up for Russia, but everyone knew Crosby wasn't gonna be there. There's too many good Canadians that needed "rest" compared to the other teams.

I wish that we could meet there! It would be great again, even though we have not so good history against you overall.

But Semi Finals will be hard for this team so the conversation is too early. :)

what about Seguin, Benn, Crosby, Weber, Hamhuis, O'Reilly, J. Staal, E. Staal and more.

Meanwhile for Russia they have Ovechkin, Malkin and Bobrovsky who show up when they're healthy and eliminated from the playoffs no matter how much money it costs them in insurance while the biggest names on this team Canada roster are rookie Nathan Mackinnon and Kevin Bieksa.

I'd like to see us bring better rosters too, but this tournament just doesn't hold any significance in North America. The only players who want to go are either young kids getting their first professional international experience or veterans who don't have any chance of making an Olympic roster.

Losing at the World Juniors hurts FAR more than a loss in the WHC, and neither compares to losing at an Olympic games.

I'd by lying if I said we didn't want to win, but you won't see any heartbroken Canadian fans because we didn't.
 
Shocking to see all the Canadian posters with their "we don't care, we won the Olympics, lallalllallalla" knee-jerk responses immediately after a loss.

Andy Murray is still the last good coach Canada has had in this tournament.

I'm not saying everyone did, he is just acting like Canada is a joke for losing in this quarter final. When clearly we know what hockey Canada is capable of.
 
Honestly..Ben Scrivens, James Reimer, Jason Garrison, Tyler Myers...Just a few names that made this team. Why would anyone be angry that we lost haha. Guys it's not even close to a best on best. Congrats Finland and good luck.

I really hate the "Hockey is our game" and "All Ice is Home Ice" slogans. It's a middle finger to everyone else, fuel for ridicule, disrespects the hockey history of every other country, and puts unfair pressure on junior players.
 
It is true - 95% of Canadians don't even know this tournament is being played right now. Having said that, I care they lost. Whenever Canada plays I want, and expect, a win. Can't expect much when your goalies are reimer and scrivens though. And Myers - awful. Isn't he American? They can have him
 
what happened to all the "this is worst team Finnand" posters? I hate when people cushion the potential loss like that....Congrats to the faithful fans, and hope to see you soon :)
