Boys we need to start pumping goalie controversy talk, I seriously believe that Jackie boy deserves a shot at the 1A. Its not like fred has a history of playoff success to fall back on. Jack is just so calm in there, you never feel like hes going to have a classic andersen 4 ga in 5 minutes blunder.
Ridiculous

Whether the Oilers had a bad game or the Leafs had a great game, the Leafs defensive zone coverage was incredible all night. Watching the game, Edmonton only had a handful of glorious opportunities to score but Campbell swallowed every shot and if a rebound was there the defensemen tied up sticks and cleared the puck away quickly.

Oilers fans actually believe they outplayed Toronto last night.

Anything more than a cursory look at the numbers would show you that Oilers individual corsi came from Nurse, Haas, Archibald etc. and their SC came from the same group.

While JT lead the leafs in individual corsi and JT, Marner, Nylander all had multiple scoring chances.

Oilers fan and no, we had some chances but were outplayed by a longshot. The better team won.

I really don't think the Leafs had much control of the game.

Oilers just had none.

A week ago the Leafs were on the other end against the Flames.

Really have to hope the Oilers put Draisaitl out against Engvall again.

Hyman-Engvall-Mikheyev might be estabilishing themselves as a very legitimate 3rd. line. Been a long time since Leafs have had one like this.

Engvall has 65 NHL games under his belt ... just a reminder of how green he is.

Don't you enjoy having goaltending you don't have to make excuses for?
You must have me confused with someone else. I don't make excuses for anyone.

The only controversy is in the minds of HF posters. Freddy won't be back next year due to economics. If Campbell is our plan A , we are in trouble.

One of the worst articles I've ever read for mistakes and errors. Does the Edmonton Sun have editors? Wow that is embarrassing.
Lmao you weren't kidding, right from the very first paragraph:

"Some of the sizzle was gone. But the steak was supposed to still there. It wasn’t. For the Edmonton Oilers, that was hamburger."

Something in particular you don't like about Campbell?

Agreed, and mostly in the first period, beyond that they didn't generate much. I don't recall any chances that should've gone in, but didn't, mostly just floaters from the point, so I'd call that a great defensive effort.

It sounds like the generic ramblings over someone on the HF Oilers board. No wonder their GDT looks like a story a grade 4 student would write

I loved that goal by Spezza. The whole play. Oilers putting McDavid out against our 4th line thinking they would cash in on a weaker line. That diving poke pass by Muzzin to Vesey was epic, and Vesey didn't pass it into Spezza's feet, so that was a positive. Spezza showed real speed there, and smart deke/snipe... he continues to turn back the clock this season.

Certainly looked like their instructions were to check the McDavid line and try to keep in the the Oilers zone as much as possible. Engvall in particular was not leaving McDavid's side when he was matched up with him, and between him and Soup those guys are both tall, lanky and fast enough to make things difficult for him and like last night, maybe even stop him once in awhile

lol I admit defeat but also really don't like the choices Tippett made with the line-up, It's like he thought "well, Matthews is out, back-up goalie, what can go wrong?" they seriously underestimated the Leafs.
