Lol, he was, and then the puck was covered and he said "f*** this" and blasted off on the goalie.

That's why he was jabbing his stick at Campbell and kicking with his right foot prior to falling. Then the puck is covered, he's probably going to go down, and he elects to make Campbell pay for doing his job well. It's a frustration thing and everyone who has played sports has seen somebody do it.
"blasted" LMAO.

you people kill me. good lord.

Here’s how Tkachuk explained the situation:
It was just a battle in front. I actually thought my tip went in. A 6-on-5 situation, just bang away at the puck and I live in that crease area throughout the games. I was just digging for the puck, I was battling with Brodes a little bit there, guys were coming in. I just got knocked over. I obviously didn’t [have] intention of falling into him or anything. It’s just a complete, a classic thing to try to accuse me of there. Just trying to battle for the puck, find the loose puck and try to pot home the game-tying goal. Unfortunately it didn’t happen.

Here’s how head coach Geoff Ward assessed things:
To be honest with you, if that’s anybody else we’re not even talking about it. Because it’s Matthew Tkachuk, now it’s an issue. If that’s Johnny Gaudreau or somebody else falling on top of the goalie, we’re not even talking abut it. There was no intent to injure him, there was no nothing. He’s just trying to make a play on a loose puck to tie the hockey game.

Based on the lack of any such announcements from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, no supplemental discipline will be forthcoming for the incident.

The Flames and Leafs meet again on Tuesday night at the Saddledome. Puck drop is just after 7 p.m. MT.

Tkachuk on Campbell controversy: ‘That’s just a classic thing to try to accuse me of there.’

I wonder if the Calgary coach sees the irony of his statement "any other player". A Johnny Gaudreau or 98% of NHL players wouldnt find themselves in this situation to begin with .... because they wouldnt do it.

I say its open season on Flames. They cant complain if someone gives them dirty back. Thunderdome on Tuesday night.

I think it's pretty fair to say that if it was any other player than Tkachuk, there probably isn't much chatter about this.

With that said, Tkachuk has probably lost the ability to be given the benefit of the doubt at this point, which is why something like this comes with a bit of an uproar. Anyways, anyone who says they wouldn't take Tkachuk on their team is lying.

Thats because if it's another player you assume it's actually an accident....

Probably right, but that's because I've never known any other player to tuck himself up into a little ball and stay on the goaltender like that. It's not something you generally see.

As Tkachuk said, Brodie pushed him into the goalie. Lost his balance from there. All there is to it.
Let’s all move on.

From a Flame’s POV they likely want the Leafs to try and enact revenge, and drag the game into a (who is tougher?) physical battle.

Holy smokes, didn't even know this was a thing until just now. Thought it looked pretty innocuous at first, but I suppose based from the replay, I can see why there's some hoopla.

Normally I'd defend Tkachuk in this situation, but it looked like he added a little extra oomph for robbing him in tight. I don't see a lot of maliciousness as some are saying though. Accidentally on purpose? Yes.

You remember that the guy in your username threw a knee in the opener, right?
That was just an awkward collision between two big dudes. Matthews went to hit him but caught him awkwardly with the knee. It's good to see Anderson wasn't hurt and has been playing. Matthews is not greasy like Tkachuk.

Second, stick to the topic of thread. This isn't about Matthews and Anderson, I know Matthews has tortured you guys since he came in but stick to topic at hand please. :)

I'm sure he wouldn't mind drawing a call and scoring a power play goal, but apart from that people expecting a brawl from any team are going to be very disappointed.

Optically, it doesn't look like a 'normal' collision or incident. Based on the downward motion of his knee it's pretty easy to see why people think it might have been intentional.

Agreed, Campbell didn’t sound too bothered with it after the game. You try to move on but as someone else here mentioned, it’s the same thing as the hit on Scheifele, in the heat of the moment it was a big deal, Mark later spoke and said he’s sure Tkachuk wasn’t trying to injure him. This incident will be just like the Scheifele incident, just another thing to tarnish his name even if the other team involved has forgave him and said it’s an accident and there was no intent to hurt. The way fans feel will continue to live on and give him a bad name.

Definitely nothing to do with getting kneed in the head.

Has definitely got to be from getting landed on by Tkachuk. I mean, it’s not like he was injured before that play was it? He could hardly stand up and was shuffling around on the ice, but sure, blame the lack of a head injury for him not being there today.

Tkachuk injured Campbell! 3 minutes before he fell on him, when he wasn't even on the ice! Just ripped his groin to shreds! Why? Because he wanted to end Jack's career. Duh.

Can someone link me to anyone from the Leafs saying it was an intentional dirty play? Or that they are at all upset about it? All I've seen is the guy he fell on saying he thinks he is a great hockey player.

TIA.
