Suspend this kid before he hurts someone seriously he needs to to learn how to hit. He's been in the league for barley any time and had had alot of dirty hits league needs to do something before someone gets hurt bad

Everyone would want this player on their team making these hits.

I'm sorry to Siegenthaler that he got injured.

I also want Rempe to keep playing like this, and maybe just don't do something stupid in the playoffs where it could lose us a game.

Rempe is a feared player in this league, and for a rookie sixth round pick you have to credit the guy. All this hate he's getting is jealousy.

It sounds crude, but every team wishes they had a player they could pay to consistently hit players in a dirty fashion. Matt Cooke played over 1000 games in the NHL. There are very few players that come around in the current game who play like this. It's a rare player to find.
Pathetic take

Looking at it live, I doubt it's possible to reactively elbow like that. Most likely just a result of trying to deliver a normal hit that missed due to Siegenthaler braking and avoiding the hit, which then caused him to lose his balance. Pretty sure Rempe's just trying to hit him through the body and that this would have been just fine had Siegenthaler simply kept skating as expected.
I'm afraid you're completely wrong. It's impossible to hit a player with an extended elbow when you're leading with your shoulder or whole body.

Here's what happens when players avoid hits from guys who are not dirtbag rats:

This man of peace has 54 PIM in 10 games in the “peaceful” low penalty minute NHL era.

Extrapolate out to a full season and compare to penalty leaders per year since the 70’s. He is at a goon level even for the violent eras.

I'm not sure why Rangers are so high on this guy. Clowns like Rempe make it really easy to give opposing teams a reason to run your best players like Fox and Panarin.
A couple of things ... it's easy to sell Rempe to fanbase - which the team is doing. It adds interest at a time when the Rangers are comfortably in the playoffs.

Also now that there is Rempe satisfying the desire of certain fans for violent hits, Trouba becomes less of a thing ... which is good imo because Trouba's overall game doesn't justify his minutes or salary. Rempe plays <10 min a game & seems to be able to function in a forecheck game.

Granato getting fined too. Lots of dissatisfaction out there with the officiating.
As an athlete growing up, I would never go after refs because I know it’s a fast game and calls can get missed. But now it’s the ego that officiating and the worst? Zero accountability from the league. So frustrating

The league circles the wagons on bad officiating. Nope, no problems here, no sir-ree, all good!

Ranger fans obviously don't want him elbowing guys in the head. It's bad for the Rangers and bad for hockey. Whether it was accidental or not, he did it.

I think the charging call in the last game was BS, but this one wasn't.

Either he'll learn to hit cleanly or he'll be gone.

My guess is that he's so much of a target now that he'll be gone, maybe before season's end.

Disagree,

I would not want him if he continues like this. Chicken shit hits isn't something team or player should strive for.

If he keeps his hits clean and can defend himself and his teammates without crossing the line then heck yes any team would want him.....

Earned his suspension there. 1 game. Then get back at it.

I got no problem with that play either from him. He'll be paid in part for his bad hits. Everyone wants to have players on their team that are paid for bad hits.

These plays are going to happen. No big issue.
He’s paid to elbow players in the head and put his team down a man for 5min?

Seems like a horrible employee

A Swiss newspaper actually discussed the rempe case and said that the league should stay away from aggressive dumb guy like him and I kind of agree with it.

This is 100% intentional BTW, he has time to understand the situation and choose to go for the head. Then provokes even more behind the ref. What a POS.

I hope Siegs is okay.

Way to completely ignore the part of my post where I said you don't want him doing something stupid that loses you a playoff game.

I could also care less he took a match penalty today. The regular season is 82 games. It's a very long season. You bet on the fact that over the course of a full season a feared player like him does more good than bad.

And the bad he does at this point is just the stupid penalties. He's actually been a rather productive NHL'er so far, and if you try to neuter him too much you might take that away. We already have Erik Gustafsson who takes a stupid penalty per game. It's not the biggest deal if Rempe occasionally crosses the line.
1G/1A in 10 games is “rather productive”?

The only reason he got away with this is the devils PP has been absolutely putrid since about January. Taking a 5 min major is usually a way to give away a game because most teams would pay dearly getting goaled on during that PP.

He would be back down in the AHL if the Devils won both games on those 5 min PP caused by his antics.

That doesn't mean he purposely elbowed him in the head. Even if you're stupid, you've played hockey in these times all your life. Matt Cooke knew he could get away with it. You can't do that now.

To a certain extent I agree with your sentiment. The problem is if a guy like that continuously crosses a line. Eventually his own team will get fed up with it, either when their own players start getting run and or he consitetnly puts the team in a bad spot penalty wise.

Maybe.... but could you imagine if we played you in a 7 game series... Devils players would be playing timid...
Anyone have the clip of Jack Hughes turning over the puck when he saw Rempe coming for him.
Kid brings energy... huge for the playoffs.

Does need to keep his elbow down.... but that could be learned.
