Yeah, but those guys aren’t centers, they don’t do as much heavy lifting in the Dzone. There aren‘t a ton of small/light top6 centers, and the ones who are, have elite speed or unusually strong legs.

I think for Poitras to reach that next level over the next 2-3 years, he’s going to have to get one of those qualities.

There's a decent list of top/middle-6 centers with his height: Point, Domi, Granlund, Cooley, Bedard, Crosby, Trocheck, Suzuki, Hughes.

Granted, I agree they all have some physical gifts that make them difficult to deal with such as speed, agility, and lower body strength. But there's plenty of people in the NHL his size or under that can handle the minutes and center position.

The kid just seems to get it. If he puts the work in I think he'll be great. Very impressed so far.

Loved his goal last night, yes he broke free from Perry who isn't a great skater but he protected the puck, separated, and had the poise to deke the goalie and finish.

so is he keeping 51?

I know what my next sweater is going to be…but I don’t want to be the guy with a 62 Lucic sweater.

i think being the guy with the #62 Looch sweater is actually kind of cool
Almost as cool as the guy with the #56 Bergeron sweater.

One of the best stories of the young season is the emergence of 19-year-old Bruins center Matthew Poitras. Boston has struggled in drafting and developing centers over the past few years, and it is thin at the position after the dual retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci. Enter Poitras, a 2022 second-round pick. Poitras' agent, John Walters, met with the teenager in the middle of summer. As the two said goodbye in the driveway, Walters said: "You know, the Bruins lost Bergeron and Krejci. You can make the team, you just gotta believe how good you are. Don't go in there thinking you'll be sent back to juniors."

So, I’ve finally seen all three of his NHL goals, and I like what I’ve seen. Excellent goals and hard work in traffic, too. It is early and a small sample size, but the Bruins might have something here. Definitely looking forward to seeing him play again.

That's really cute and all, but Poitras is NOT a savior or a superhero, he is just a kid playing in the NHL, everyone should just leave it at that!.
Hey, I am happy that he is doing well, but building him up to be some kind of savior, is the last thing this kid needs, let him play and enjoy the ride.
What do u think poitras’s hf account name is?

Great read from @DominicT .

I hope they don’t send him to the world jrs. As much as I love watching Canada win I don’t see how it benefits the bruins. He is literally making the team better.

He is better than Tyler seguin was his first season imo. (That’s my comparable based on age) I don’t think they sent seguin back did they?

I admittedly don't follow the CHL like I do NCAA hockey but damn I at least like to think I know who the top prospects are coming up. Where the hell did this kid come from? Specifically developmentally, was he a late bloomer? Did something in his game take a big jump? Impressive breakaway speed last night and I love the intensity he shows out there. He might end up being someone who isn't elite in any one area but does a lot of things well. Tough not to get excited even after only a few games. What is the best NHL comp for him?
Gonna take a beating here but he reminds me of Suzuki in Montreal only quicker.

Did they even release Henien from PTO, or is he hanging around. You’d think another team would want him. It’s not like he was terrible in preseason

thinking of getting a Poitras Jersey

does anyone know what the numbers within the sizes refer to? chest circumference?

Heads up that site it not authentic bruins jerseys even though it says it is. Pretend to be the actual pro shop when it's not

However, I recently bought a Poitras jersey from the nhl shop. I'm 5'7" and around 160 lbs. I can comfortably fit in a size 50 Adidas with room for a sweater underneath
