My favorite Poitras moment, last night, was immediately after a giveaway at the offensive blue line, he got back to break up the play at his defensive blue line. His offensive instincts are advanced, but to see this level of responsibility so soon in extremely encouraging. something that Lysell and Merkulov don't get, to this point.

He demonstrated effective decision-making skills when he prevented a goal after a poor pass. It is great to see how this kid takes ownership of his actions and handles them perfectly.

If they aren’t retiring 10 for Bill Cowley which they should give it to Poitras

Cowley
Ratelle
Pederson
Poitras
If it was soccer, not anyone could wear number 10. Lol. I can see him wearing it.

I was just thinking back to Looch wearing 62 and now wondering if Poitras sticks with 51 or adjusts when he's more established. I know the numbers are ultimately meaningless, but I can't help but think 51 is weak.
I would not have called 37,46 or 63 strong numbers either , but the players that wore them for the Bruins have made them pretty significant Bruin #'s . The same can happen with 51. I like the idea of a player taking a # and making it his. If you take 63 as an example Marchand is the only Bruin we associate with this #. Poitras if successful can make us quickly forget the last player to wear 51 . Who I think was Spooner

Poitras with a poor night on the dot but he`ll bounce back, had moments for sure but with so many penalties on both sides, felt like literally nobody could get into a rhythm but 2 pts in the bank

Great to see Monty putting Poitras with Marchy today in practice. Figured that would happen sooner rather than later. I think the style of those two guys can play off of each other really well. Fingers crossed Monty likes what he sees and keeps them together Thursday night.

The way Monty deploys his top 3 lines there's not much difference between 1C, 2C, and 3C in terms of ATOI. Last season Coyle only had around 1 min less ATOI than Bergy and 9 seconds less than Krech. Just need to get the right centers with the right wingers since all three top Cs are going to play about the same amount of time most nights.

Personally, the less I am reminded of Ryan Spooner, the better :P
This guy? :sarcasm:

Mathew poitras is so much better. Spooner was into his 20s when he played in the nhl for the first time. He was lost with out the puck. Looks like spooner has found his game in the khl.

Well Coyle isn’t a number one Center so he has to try something.
I agree, but he actually has looked better than Zacha has so far. Zacha 100% needs to be more assertive. He is playing too much like a complementary player right now. We have two centers that have been tried in top 6 center roles and failed. I am all for giving them another shot, but you have to be crazy not to be looking at that as numero uno if they struggle scoring 5 on 5
