A penalty for charging, maybe. But if no penalty is called, no further discipline is warranted because this isn't suspension-worthy, no matter how hard the Leafs fanbase is crying.

They and their coach have been crying pretty hard.

Lyubushkin also put himself in a vulnerable position off the boards. He was not ready for the hit.

Devils fans who've been hoping for Lindy Ruff to be fired should thank Matthew. His hit on Bastian I think might have went some ways to Fitzgerald canning Lindy today.

I hope so. It's limited viewing at the NHL level. His puck handling ability has been pretty sloppy and he'll need to be more aware of who is on the ice with him. Forechecking Nylander on Saturday was a predictable outcome. Personally, I'd be shocked if he plays in more than 40% of the games over the next 2 years, but I hope I'm wrong because a player that size, hitting everything, can really benefit the team.
Disagree regarding puck handling. Hes been above average there

I think you're being a little too giving calling it above average, especially when we don't even have a full roster of above average, and they certainly handle the puck better.

He's hardly a finished product. Well when you're 21......a player should get better in a lot of ways or at least going into his prime years. Smarter away from the puck, improving his stick skills, figuring out the game more and in Rempe's case picking his spots better. The way he's going now he could have 15 NHL fights by season's end and I'm okay with that....he's making his bones right now but a couple years down the road if he's fighting 30 times a year that might be a bit much. I want the physical play mind you but I also want him working to get better. I do love the youthful exuberance. He's like a big f***ing puppy in a way.....almost like he doesn't know how strong and powerful he is. Byfuglienesque or Boogaardian. It's like the Rangers have been bequeathed a nuclear bomb....something that nobody but us has now. It's one thing to have that kind of size but he can motor too. It's like WTF!

If we keep him up we’re winning the cup, if we send him down we’re heading for a well deserved first round exit.

Edit: He is the 13th forward at practise so looks like it's the latter. The first alpha rookie to come up and grab the league by the balls, instead we'll have mild manner Kakko who is legit worse than Rempe offensively let alone at every other area of the game. Fold the franchise. Move to Kansas

There's a possibility Rempe will go back to Hartford but he's already a folk hero to Rangers fans and he's made a very good impression on the coaching staff and with the players. I look at him as very much still a work in progress but his physical game is off the charts....might even be unmatched around the league considering his size and his skating. Even if he never looked for a fight they'll follow him anyway. He's not like Boogaard as a fighter yet but he could be in 4/5 years but however important that is to anyone here he hits like Byfuglien and part of that is because he can really motor with that big body of his and he should get a bit heavier and just there he will get people going after him. This is a force of nature kind of player and the Rangers will need to figure out how best to use him in years to come.

Went from someone who may never even see the NHL to someone who’ll be penciled into our lineup for the foreseeable future. Crazy how quickly he made a name for himself, grabbed by the league by the balls. Nearly as many followers as Adam Fox already and his recent pics are getting more likes than any Ranger including Henrik Lundqvist

The pacifist crowd (libs) want to send him down because he fights too much. I would like him to settle down but I think he will develop better being part of the team even if he doesn’t play every game. You can rotate him and Mr. Ed.

This. Imo he’ll be a regular in the rangers lineup for the rest of the 2020’s beginning next season. Kid is only 21, his body is still filling out, tireless workee, great attitude, likable kid, and can absolute nuke dmen on the forecheck. I genuinely think he deserves a spot in our playoff lineup for the fact he can end a top dman’s entire series on a simple dump in

Love the physicality he brings - I agree that I think he may see some playoff time but not a lot in his first go. But who knows, he seemingly really charges up the team. We have something no other team has right now with him, he's a menace and only going to get better. I love it.

I know he's a hero to most but he's not ready to play in the playoffs.

I like him. He's actually been fairly respectable on the hockey aspect of it. But he's just too aggressive. He's gonna take a 5 minute major and lose us a game in the playoffs.

Hollweg burned me in that 2008 series. It's all I think about when I think about Rempe in the playoffs

FWIW I consider myself a home defense only anti-war leftist. I don't connect politics with ice hockey. I began with the Rangers in 1971-72 and those early 70's Flyers teams that went rogue took the game in a completely new direction and the need to retaliate in kind to aggression of any sort is kind of in my DNA and at least partly because of them. If it seems contradictory somehow I'm not apologizing for feeling that way.

Anyway watching Rempe's interview with Emily Kaplan...at heart he's just a very large and somewhat goofy kid who likes to roughhouse. Basically a normal Canadian 21 year old. He's not a psychotic. That's a good thing.

If he gets sent down he will be asked to fight a couple of times per game in the AHL which has more tough guys than any league outside of the Quebec Fight League . He best be able to pick his spots when he gets back .

Also of note......Olivier hammered Carrick last night after Carrick started strong in his Oil debut . Olivier set him down gently to the ice when he tagged him with the uppercut . BJ's have something in Olivier !!! Plus they have that Russian line and I think they will be OK next season .

I think some of you are being super optimistic with your penciling him in the lineup for the foreseeable future/2020's. He's had 16 AHL fights + what we saw at the NHL level. Rempe is obviously a tough kid. But I think there's more work to be done before penciling him in the lineup to play more than 35% or so through-out the next 2 seasons.

I don’t think people are penciling him in because of his fighting. Sure it helps but… Personally, I think it’s because he can skate (not just for his size), hits like a truck, And is fairly responsible defensively. He forechecks and backchecks. He goes to the net front. Hasn’t looked out of place and is only going to improve. Is he ready to be a regular? I’d say no, but he’s good enough to be up here and spot in, especially for the playoffs. And with a little development he could well be a regular 4th liner next year.

I'm not saying it's based on his fighting. He has long strides and can move. His edge-work and turn radius definitely needs improvement. I'm just saying in general, he's still got a lot of work to do before I'd pencil him in on the 4th line for a permanent role. Obviously he's 21 and development will still take place.

Oh for sure. If he was a finished product right now he’s not a regular on most teams.

Doesn't that make Rempe our Tom Wilson?
A lot of what makes Wilson Wilson is sneak attack headshots on guys who can’t protect themselves. I am hoping Rempe doesn’t do that. Also Wilson has much more puck handling skill. But Rempe does have good wheels and appears to have a nose for the puck. That’s a valuable player for sure.
