Big man technique deployed:

It worked pretty well for Chara!

He's a marked man for other tough guys at this point if only because of the media attention he's gotten. Olivier went from being a nobody and really upped his profile and others will want to do that too. So if he's playing for us most of the rest of the year he's going to get into fights because certain players are going to be looking for it.

A couple things---it might help if he started stretching pregame somewhere other than around the team's redline. He's not getting a ton of ice time so some night's where it might seem like something might happen maybe it won't. But also when he hits someone at speed it draws attention too. That's just a given. I imagine also if he goes back to Hartford the celebrity he's gotten is going to ramp up in the AHL and FWIW things might not calm down for him until next year.

He's entered the NHL by storm kind of in the way Derek Boogaard did (R.I.P.). Boogaard at the point he made the NHL was pretty much a finished project. He never really improved as a player. Rempe's game has been improving steadily but he's still got a ways to go IMO. He's very much a work in progress. Despite limited ice time we see he can hang as an NHL player. Skating is very good but there's room for improvement still. His puck skills are pretty limited but there's some room for improvement there too. He's shown a decent sense of the game and seems to have an idea how to use his size battling for pucks and being in and around the crease is a way he can put it to good use. The team needs to commit to his improvement....not just see him as a fighter. He and Edstrom on a line together in the future could be a hell of a problem for opposition defenses especially as they become better and more experienced players.

I would say maybe Lavi can talk to Matt about not accepting fights every single game but im pretty sure Lavi doesn't talk to the players at all.

This picture is why I really want somebody to go over videos with Rempe.

1. Rempes helmet is coming off way too easy.

2. Rempe's left arm (non punching) is all the way past Oliver's shoulder and head. That gives away his reach advantage. That allows Oliver inside.

One would think the coaches in Hartford and vets talked to him about this

the good news is that he seems to be effective at 5 on 5 which we desperately needed. he clearly wants to go for big hits but his timing is not quite there yet (his barely-hit on Cam Yorke being a great example) but he's doing some good work on the forecheck and crashing the net.

just want him to keep it up; highly doubt he's still up here after the TDL but I really want him to make the most of it while he's here.

Dear Matt "Remp-Shaker" Rempe,

as player safety and the league's front office won't do it, I'd like to take the time to inform you on the dangers of repeated fighting and the possibility of irreversible damage to your brain.

It is medically proven, that repeated bashing to the head, can lead to microscopic bleeding and damage to your brain. Over a long period of time you can increase your risk of severe brain damage and possibly obtain CTE in your later years. CTE is a degenerative brain disease that can lead to amnesia, early Alzheimer's disease, depressions and suicidal tendencies.

Unfortunately the medical department might only help you with medication, like pain-killers and pills, to numb down the pain. Most of which will destroy your liver and kidneys in return.

That said, try to be safe, good luck and keep bashing in their f***ing heads.

Sincerely yours.

Mike Rupp is local and could probably get on ice with rempe one day just to show him.

His team should spot him on a couple . Guys like Trouba and Cuylle can tie up the big boys and for the punks like Hatheway even Kreider should be able to tie him up so he won't get hurt and then we still have Schneider and Goodrow who can handle themselves . Those guys need to step it up instead of Rempe doing it all .
