Not mutually exclusive. Can work on both.

If he calls Scott he may not have to.

Scott made the point that he was pretty excited Rempe's entrance into the league. For him the Deslauriers and Olivier fights harkened back some 20/30 years ago when fights weren't grab and hugs and could go for a minute and a half/two minutes. He made that offer to Rempe and seemed pretty serious about it and I think it would do Matt good though it might not be something he can do until the season is over.

I want him to get help now or stop going against the baddest fighters. I do not want him to get hurt when that can be avoided.

Scott said today that he reached out to Rempe on Instagram and they had a good conversation and that he reiterated his offer. Also said that he didn't think the Rangers would take him up on it.

Everybody wants to train him. They see him as a generational talent
If tHiS frAnCHisE kNeW ANythInG about forward development, they'd have already brought John Scott in.
Since they don't, Matt will have to punch Reavo into retirement so he's free to give Rempe classes instead.

With Rempe I'm also kind of reminded of Nick Fotiu. Fotiu had trained as a boxer as a kid so off the get go he had an idea how to fight and defend himself but on the other hand he's from Staten Island (at a time when Canadians made up about 98% of NHL players) playing for the New Hyde Park team in the NY Met league in the early 1970's (completely off the radar and in almost total obscurity) as a 20/21 year old and from there to another off the radar team on Cape Cod. Back in the early 70's there was another startup league the World Hockey Association (WHA) competing with the NHL and the New England Whalers--(later on the Hartford Whalers and today Carolina Hurricanes) took a chance on him because he was so tough and out of nowhere he's on a team with Gordie Howe and his kids Mark and Marty. Like Rempe his skills were super raw but also like Rempe he could really skate and because of his toughness he's something of a New York Rangers legend.

players are clearly terrified to get hit by him. forwards leave their position to cut him off when he's tracking towards a D constantly when he's on the forecheck. really wanna (selfishly) see him get a big crunching check in that just devastates a defender

also cool that he got some increased ice time last night. he's clearly getting better each game. he still has a lot of work to do but, for the umpteenth time, the fact that he's here and not sucking eggs is a minor miracle

I remember the so-called draft experts on Twitter being outraged we drafted a guy who wasn't even ranked. And wouldn't ever get close to the NHL.

That was said about both Edström AND Rempe by the way, and then regurgitated about Chmelař.

I don't know man. Maybe they know what they're doing with these late picks?

After Reaves trains Rempe, I want to see Rempe fight Kravtsov to drive Ed insane, as two of Reaves' proteges square up.

My great grandkids telling their great grandkids about the Matt Rempe tour

idk how long this ride will last but it's been fun. he's gotten a solid 15 minutes of fame already. People were chanting his name at MSG last night and he's been talk of the town for weeks. exceeded expectations for what was a longshot to be in the nhl

id be lying if i said i could totally see him sticking in the lineup every day through the stretchrun and playoffs. hope i am wrong and that he gets better and better though.

Late round picks have never been the problem for this org, it's exclusively any pick made in the 1st round. The higher the pick, the sketchier the outcome.

Nick is an uncle to one of my best friends. Had the pleasure of catching some games with him. Then having some beers with him in the old Cafe31. He has some of the best hockey stories ever.

When Larouche joined the Rangers he was very particular about donuts which the Rangers would have in the lockerrom before games. (Pre-Game meals were different in those times). Fotiu who was the ultimate pranskter, emptied a Boston Creme donut, and re-filled it with Shaving cream. Larouche shows up, grabs the donut and takes a huge bite out of it.
