That entirely depends on if you want to be ideal or realistic. Should he have to hold up? Probably not. But the refs are likely to call those plays penalties so he probably should.
this is also true. which is why it deserved a penalty imo

"Avoidable hit" being something made up by online people is correct. Rempe has no obligation to avoid hitting a guy with the puck because he's bent over. Price to pay for being stupid cupcake.
I don’t follow these guys much but this reel pertained to the discussion we had here so I posted this for a pretty unbiased in this instance view on the subject. This is not too dissimilar to when a player in front of the net is pushed into a goalie by a defenseman and the question is where’s he supposed to go? In this situation what a “hitter” supposed to hit when he fulfills all requirements to avoid being an illegal hit and still makes contact with the head of his target because of the way the target positioned himself?

I agree and I also think there's a large chunk of us here and elsewhere that realize that Rempe knows he got to lay that hit. He's a kid, called up for the 4th line to bang bodies, he needs to show he's going to do everything expected of him and anything to stay.

When was the last time we had someone get airdropped into hot LZ with guns a-blazing? He's sent a ripple through the league, everyone is talking about him.

Does he even shave yet?

The Rempe Effect across the entirety of the NHL fan-base has been fascinating to watch. It’s a searingly relevant “x-ray” of the sterile and nauseating “McD/Jack Hughes/Bedard” circle jerk that’s become the standard bill of fare ladled out by Bettman’s media team. Matt has got everyone talking about a different face of the game. Love him or hate him, I reckon the kid is great for the game.

On a serious note, MacDermid can fight (I think he's the best in the league TBH) and he's almost as tall as Rempe. And the Devils are probably looking for blood after what happened with Bastian.

Rempe will need those fighting lessons, if he is going to play the Devils again with MacDermid in the lineup. The next game is 10 days away...

They’re morons. Rempe will most likely be in Hartford 10 days from now.

He can fight but too slow to throw the body. All the talk about Rempe taking shots from Olivier, MacDermid was dropped by Colton Orr in the minors. Everyone has to learn.

And everyone goes down at some point. MacDermid's second to last fight was against Lucic, and he dropped MacDermid.

Everybody goes down sometimes. Even Boogaard, Probert, Twist and Grimson did. I'm just saying, if Rempe is still up in 10 days, MacDermid will be in the Devils lineup and he will probably be going after Rempe. And the kid needs to be ready for another big challenge. Like I don't think the will have to fight Reeves tomorrow if he doesn't want to, it's up to him. But the Devils want revenge for Bastian.

F the devils and F that goofy foot staring idiot Bastian. Keep your head up you dummy. I don't have a very good feeling about it but i hope Rempe mops the floor with Mcdermid like when all the hype of John Scott coming here to beat everyone up and he throws a draw with Cam freakin Jansen lol.

Dear Matt "Remp-Shaker" Rempe,

the hype-train is real. But don't get it twisted, this is a sickness and a curse upon you. You have been cursed, to sacrifice a lamb each game, or be the lamb that gets sacrificed.

The league and the media want to see blood, be it yours or the opponents, they don't care, it sells, you sell. Opposing teams and their fans also want your blood. Everybody is putting a target on your back now, be that foto-shots or fist-shots.

Your actions, paired with this hype-volite media of our time, generated such an interest in such a short amount of time, that you have been chosen. Cursed by the money you generated in such a short time (for others), damned to repeat and keep playing that way.

It is unfortunate, that you are becoming a living example of the dynamics of violence in hockey. There is only more to be had. It is the path of violence, specially in the NHL, to add up and add up.

As long as you want to do this, go ahead. But don't let the league and money abuse you, don't let them force you to be a player, that you don't want to be. You don't have to fight every game.

That said, have fun out there, try to stay safe and keep bashing in their f***ing skulls.

Sincerely yours.

Colton Orr was one of those fighters who just had real heavy hands. He put a lot of people down with that big right hand. He lost quite a few as well. He wasn’t technical. But throughout the NHL all of these guys had other enforcers that had their number. Probert had Troy Crowder. Kocur had Bob McGill. Etc.

Agree that everyone has to learn. Some styles however just don’t matchup well with others.

Rangers are going to NY Ranger this deadline and likely Rempe will get sent back at some point. Personally, I can’t remember the last time I was excited for a Rangers 4th line like I am with this trio. They have created an identity. They are creating offense. And in the case of Rempe, the whole league is talking about this kid.

I’m hoping they let this trio stay and continue to grow together.

Rempe actually looks like he can play. He skates like no other 2 meter twig I have seen. I think he can make it as a 4th liner just based on that.

To my mind pretty much a draw between him and Reaves. Neither landed anything damaging. Personally I'd rather have Matthew's eye heal up a little more. I suspect he can see through it without issue now but if he got punched there again it would probably swell up again. If anything Rempe wins the battle between them both just with the hit on Toronto's new addition to their D Lyubushkin. That guy got hammered.
