Good gravy. Kid took an L there. I was hoping he’d take a night off from fighting. Glad he came back and got a helper. Maybe with this loss, he won’t get challenged so much. Took away a little mystique. I’m sure he’d like to get it back when we play CBJ again, but I hope he takes a game or two without it instead. Also, he NEEDS to secure his helmet better, f***ing thing comes flying off every time it’s touched.

I can see a rematch happening on Wed.

Not a good idea. His fighting technique stinks. He's going to get knocked silly in short order if he's not careful.

I agree. Not to discredit the kid but he really has to tighten up, and that will come. Thing is, this game today and then the next against the same opponent might be exactly what he needs and give him that gap to just go play hard.

He will learn, for his first handful of games this kid basically went first in line for thanksgiving dinner and put the whole turkey on his plate.

My absolute biggest concern, is that there better be a vet in the room and in his ear. (I'm confident there is, and more than one)

I look forward to more of this kid.

Here's my 2 cents on Rempe.

He's a big guy who doesn't shy away from fighting as we have seen. But looking at his first 5 games, it's also worth noting how impactful he is outside his fights. In his limited ice-time and with his skating, he really makes that 4th line effective. I am not sure he will see a lot of playing time in the post-season assuming we will acquire 1 or 2 pieces at the deadline but this 4th line with him and Edström is already so much more effective than it was with Bonino and Pitlick.

The fights will die down a bit after the first week. I do believe the coverage Rempe has gotten has contributed to him being challenged. Making his NHL debut in an outdoor game, fighting Matt Martin, leveling Nathan Bastian. All in his first 3 games... That put the spotlight on him. That will fade away.

What stands out to me, is how much his skating has improved since he signed his ELC. It's absolutely remarkable. Edström and Rempe are good skaters. Not "Good skaters for their size" but just good skaters, period. These two are 23 and 21 years old. They will get better, but already look more than serviceable on a 4th line that is having a big impact on games.

just play the damn game kid. you're more effective on the ice than in the penalty box.

I agree with this sentiment, but when he's challenged during warm-ups multiple times, it's hard for him to just walk away because they will just follow him around until he drops the gloves.

If he is going to fight, you might as well get it out of the way in the first few minutes.

If the heavy hitters keep challenging him pretty much every game, he'll have to start declining some of them, or his NHL career will come to an end before it really starts.

He will also have to work on not exposing himself in fights, and on his awareness on ice. If he is to be an effective 4th liner long term, he has to be able to find the puck when it's at his feet. There have been multiple instances where he just couldn't find it. I get that his size and reach probably make it difficult, but it needs to improve.

Yes, he's far from a perfect bottom-6 guy but what stands out his his play away from the puck which is rare for a kid his age. They usually only excel in possession at that age. Same thing is true for Edström, but he's far more polished and you can easily see the 4 years of pro hockey experience in his game.

He needs to say no. He’s not getting challenged because he’s big. He plays into it and wants to do that. Edstrom is almost the exact same size and doesn’t put himself in those situations.

Yup...throw some big hit and be a menace in front of the net when possible . That is what will count , That is what will keep him around and help the club in more games . The team has to help the kid out here and settle him down now or he will get seriously hurt in the next week or so . None of us want that .

Looked good again last night but if it comes down to Rempe or Edstrom in the playoffs there is no doubt who Lavy is gonna pick. I know Rempe is the popular one but Edstrom is much more composed especially in the d and neutral zone. Especially with positioning. Still tho wanna see as much as possible of Rempe for the rest of the regular season and especially up until the TDL.
