They finally benched him for the 3rd. So that Will Cuylle doesn't get to complete an inverted hat-trick of hits.
First impression is a 2-3 game suspension, but would like to see more video of Bastian leading up to the hit.
Looks like Rempe has a considerable amount of time to line up this hit—not a case of Bastian moving his body immediately before contact making the head contact unavoidable.
Do you think it’s plausible that Rempe elevated his elbow and that his elbow did most of the damage?First impression is a 2-3 game suspension, but would like to see more video of Bastian leading up to the hit.

literally any coach at any legit level instructs people to take the body and not reply solely on stick checks, so yeah, nhl teams just replying on sticks would probably not be very effective, but sure, try it...
I mean, he's skating with his head down and leading with his head. What is Rempe supposed to do? In theory, Bastian could skate head down and head out all the way down the ice and can't be touched because any hit from the front is a head shot.
NHL has to consider he put himself in a stupidly prone position.
Do people think its a good idea to skate with your head down?Wait do people think you skate with your head up purely to avoid contact?
This is very true. It's funny, there are a ton of advantages to being tall in hockey..but guess what, there's one disadvantage: you gotta be careful with your hits.

Here's an angle where you can see Rempe skating toward Bastian:
Opposite angle of what's in the OP:
Found the guy who never played hockey.Of course not. Not just because you might get blown up, but because you can’t see anything. Yes Bastian has his head down to pick the puck off the boards, there are situations where you need to drop your head. That not a green light to blow a player up, It’s on the player making the hit to avoid significant contact with the head.
He's absolutely clueless. This is every bit Bastian's fault as it is Rempe's.Found the guy who never played hockey.
Do you think it’s plausible that Rempe elevated his elbow and that his elbow did most of the damage?
Because the 2nd angle is full body contact imo. Maybe still Rule 48 because he elevated? But I wouldn’t be surprised to see DPS go after him for the elbow and not 48
Found the guy who never played hockey.
Nothing wrong with the hit and nothing will come from it. It was a horrible call the NHL will bury. And once they announce there will be nothing further i’m sure you will disappear from here.I feel like if you think the only reason you skate with your head up is to avoid contact, it’s pretty good evidence you didn’t play hockey.

It was a perfect hit, get over it.I can’t say I’m confident the NHL will follow through with severe enough discipline, so I’ll be here regardless to discuss how poorly the NHL deals with headshots. There’s not a level of hockey where that hit is okay.
