I brought up Chara saying the height is a bad excuse because Chara didn’t headshot everybody IN THIS MANNER his entire career. You brought other nonsense that had nothing to do with my point into it. So good on ya, you’re really good at thisYou brought up Chara, somehow being the poster boy of clean hits while being a big guy, which I am saying is dale stale horseshit.
Insanity. You wont even hear nate bastian saying its suspension worthy. The hit was textbook. Glide, shoulder tucked, light contact. Just look what former nhl guys are saying, theyre laughing that it was even a minor. And im not talking about guys who played 30 years ago, im talking about guys who have played in the past decade5 and a game is justified
A couple game suspension is also justified
Where his height does come into play is when trying to figure out intent. Because if there’s legitimate intent here, this is a 4+ game suspension. But I don’t think there was clear intent here. What there was is a really tall player not doing enough to get lower on a hit, which alone is worthy of a couple of games. For better or worse, his height gives him plausible deniability on intent though, so I don’t think you can suspend past a couple of games. That and a lack of history.

This x10000This argument would make sense if the poster had defended that Chara hit you referenced in any way.
You’re doing a fantastic job avoiding the point. It’s not that Chara never threw a bad hit in his career. It’s that he was 6’9”, spent two decades in the league many of which he played near 30 min/night, played physical, and yet you can probably count the number of his questionable high hits on one hand.
If “being tall” is a legitimate excuse for a guy to come flying in and deliver a direct head shot, we have a problem. Being tall doesn’t pass the onus onto the victimized player. If you think it does, please point me to that section of the rulebook.
And maybe they're right and there's enough past precedent that Rempe won't be suspended at all.Insanity. You wont even hear nate bastian saying its suspension worthy. The hit was textbook. He left with some sort of leg injury. He seemed fine when he returned earlierAnd maybe they're right and there's enough past precedent that Rempe won't be suspended at all.
I'm simply giving my interpretation on what the NHL should do. If they actually took player safety seriously, they would/should suspend on hits like this. Clear hits to the head that result in injury should by punished.
I also question the Devils' training staff for letting Bastian back in the game. The guy was clearly dazed and ended up getting himself into another dangerous situation shortly thereafter that led to him leaving the game due to injury.
Both of these things lead to the key question - is the NHL *actually* showing they care about the brain safety of their players? At times, I highly doubt they are.
You don’t hit a player like that period. He charges at him from a long distance clearly with intent to injure
Yeah devils training staff definitely needs to be questioned, gotta go to the quiet room at the very least after that
You are still responsible for the damage you inflict. He literally skated past the puck to make the hit. Doesn’t seem too bright. Not surprised I guess. Perhaps he picked the wrong sport. No, he came gliding in probably thinking:
1) Can't charge
2) Tuck my elbow in
3) Can't leave my feet
4) Don't lean into the hit
He did all that but the guy got hurt anyway.
Either he'll learn how to do it right or he'll be out of the league.
He's in his 3rd game. This is not Wilson, who has been despicable for years.
Are you actually from Canada or have Canadians really changed this much under Trudeau? Maybe it's the chemtrails...You are still responsible for the damage you inflict. You've never seen him play besides this hit. You didn't know his name until last night. You don't know anything about how effective he is at the AHL level. I'm sure you looked at his stats, but it's not his job to fill the net.Are you serious?
Even the NYR don't think he is a real NHL player given his ice time.
There is no reason to have enforcers that can't even be a decent AHL player in the NHL anymore.
I've seen him play both live and on TV in the WHL and in clips as well. You've never seen him play besides this hit. You didn't know his name until last night. You don't know anything about how effective he is at the AHL level. I'm sure you looked at his stats, but it's not his job to fill the net.
Basically this, it's called situational awareness.Didn't look that bad until your realize he had a guy in a vulnerable position. Elbow right to the head. No need for that.
His elbow was down. I agree he could have held up from hitting a player in a vulnerable position and he rightfully got a penalty for it, but the hit itself was clean. He didn't charge him. He didn't raise his elbow. He put his shoulder into him and, because of Bastian's position, it got him in the head.Didn't look that bad until your realize he had a guy in a vulnerable position. Elbow right to the head. No need for that.
