That looked painful. Right call on the penalty. Not sure I'd go with a suspension though.

I cant recall the last time I saw a team in the nhl physically brutalize and manhandle a team like the rangers did last night. Luke hughes was going horizontal to the ice when kreider would fart basically. Something was different about the rangers last night, they ended the devs season imo

When you high stick someone on the follow through of a shot, even if it draws blood, it isn't a penalty. Stick around me a while and you'll learn a few things.

Different hits. Rempe came straight down the wall and glided into a hit where a players body was squared up, he frankly hit him about 25% as hard as he could have and bastians head was 2 feet in front of his body.

Dillion skated full speed from across the ice on an angle and hit an upright player direct in the head

Like I would know. Happens randomly here and there to players, and obviously probably is only actually minimally correlated to player height, at best.

You don’t hit a player like that period. He charges at him from a long distance clearly with intent to injure

Clearly charging, clearly a hit to the head. Whether the head contact was intentional or not is relevant, a player is responsible for their body at all times.

The NHL seems to think that more discipline in the game = shorter suspension sentence, so because there was a match penalty I'm guessing it's a 1-2 game suspension.

But this is exactly the sort of the hit that the league is trying to get out of the game - an unnecessary, predatory hit from a talentless goon who got ejected after 10 seconds of ice time. This hit accomplished nothing other than giving Bastian brain damage.

The Trouba hit on Bastian was surprisingly clean, but Bastian should not have been allowed back into that game.

100%, what the hell were they thinking. Then he goes out and fights and gets bloodied again. Morons.

The major on Rempe was the right call. If he doesn't get suspended, that probably would be the right call too. I will have no problem with whatever the league decides, I hate hits to the head.

Rempe is going to be a problem though; he isn't Reaves or whatever, kid can play. Huge and quick, he is going to need to figure out how not to get guys heads but still be heavy.

As a Rangers fan, I thought it was the right call. You have to protect these players, and whether it was intentional or not, it was a clear hit to the head.

I don't know if I would suspend him (maybe a game) but I thought the refs got it right.

At some point players need to start protecting themselves and playing smarter.

It was a hit to the head, so I see why there is an uproar. But also, don't be stupid, stupid.

It's amazing how you know so much about a player you never heard of until last night.

A menace? He's a big guy who plays a physical game. The hit is unfortunate, but he's just a kid playing his game and trying to stay in the lineup. If you want to call him a menace, you'll need more evidence than this one hit.

Rempe could have held up. The hit deserved a penalty, and he got a penalty. Stop trying to make this out to be more than it is.

Please explain how it isn’t charging. He was literally locked into a target after he approached the blueline
 
Weird how Chara is bigger and could avoid head shotting people in that manner, so much for being penalized for being “too tall”
