I'm not going to debate the hockey merits because I only watched the Leafs like twice or three times -- whenever they played us -- and Martin didn't really stand out to me one way or another... Perhaps you watched all 82 Leafs games last year and are justified in thinking adding Martin to our roster is a downgrade..

My point was that we got Matt Martin for an ECHL player... so I think we won the trade, and I don't connect it to CdH because Taranna had 29 other outlets...

I watched almost all their games, Martin wasn't bad, they just had better options emerge - Kapanen, Johnsson.

Martin never found a role on that team. They played different than the NYI

The Islanders probably still have the 3rd or 4th most cap in the league right now and all these signings are short term. None of these signings will prevent them from adding any piece they need. Stop just stop, especially the people that wanted JT to leave so we had more cap to work with.... this is what you get with that cap space.

After my initial reaction I am all in on the Martin move but if there was so much interest it would have cost more than McAdam

There was interest because the Leafs paid most of the salary yesterday according to Brooks. Perhaps other teams wanted Dumbas to take some off the cap hit. Like I said Reeves is getting 250k more for 2 years. Not a bad deal IMO. If it were 4 years then it would be bad. Which I said at the time Martin was signed. But also we also have to look at NY Isles and Martin's success with Casey and Cal as being a unique situation.

Eberle is here for the next 5-6. Barzal s team now. Isles will keep him and he wants to stay
