It's not like MM CC and CC are goons by any stretch. They hit hard and clean 99% of the time.

As I said, it feels beneath us to have hardons for guys like MM getting revenge hits on Tavares while they're too busy chasing Cups.
Tis' the life of The Process I guess.

We're going to be a ***** to play against at least. Barzal is going to fly around like Patty back in the day with a throng of goons to watch his back.

Tank, get some more high end talent and while the kids trickle into the lineup... they have big brothers to watch their backs too. We're going to suck, but we'll be proud of these boys.

You win with skill. But as we saw in the Cup Finals, you need some brute force too. Isles have the skill they drafted in Bellows, Wahlstrom, Dobson, Iskarov, Aho to add to Barzal, Beauvillier. Now they have Martin, and Komarov who I can almost guarantee the Isles fans will like as long as you know he is a 3M player. Not a 6M dollar player.

I can guarantee you that the next competitive Islanders team will not have MM or Komarov making any sort of contribution.

Lou Must Go! :sarcasm:

On a serious note, nice to have Martin back. Not exactly what I expected, but did crack a smile when I heard the news for whatever that's worth. July has been quite interesting and it's only 3 days old.

I think people have to realize that the players we are getting will make it easier for us to bring up guys like Bellows or Wahlstrom, the issue over the past few seasons was that we had to bring up guys like Fritz to fill in key positions. Let's say a guy like Badd goes down like he will for 20 games, you can bring up Bellows and he would be playing with 2 vets

Not if one only values goals and assists. Sometimes winning is a change in attitude, a change in culture. This is what Lou instilled in Toronto. It's not always the obvious goals and assists that get teams far. If it were this easy, teams with the best all star roster would always win the cup. Which is rarely the case.

That's exactly it. Forget Tavares or the Leafs for the moment, this is what's best for the team at this point. This not like when Milbury left and we had no picks, prospects, or team. Right now we have the following going for us...

A chance to trade Lee, Nelson, and Eberle (rather keep Eberle) for some picks this year and next.

Still have these guys.
Barzal
Beuvillier
Bellows
Pulock
Leddy
Wahlstom
Dobson
Sorokin
Toews
Wilde
JHS?

Patience is tough especially with the shit we have endured, however I think with Management, coaching, and Belmont we finally have something to look forward to. We shall see I guess and It's about time because we darn well deserve it as fans.

Edit: Forgot Toews

Ok with the emotional nonsense over the last few days I love this purely from an emotional standpoint in that I love Matty Marts.

Was one of my favorite players when he was here, and now that he's back he's my favorite again with Jaro gone.

I get that overall and for the team this probably doesn't mean much and isn't the direction I or most think we should be going in. But just from purely fanship and emotion I love this. I had to retire my Jaro jersey, but I can now bust out my Martin jersey again.

Once that goes away and I realize we still need so much other stuff and this doesn't help us score or defend, I'll hate it I'm sure.

Edit: Wish we could have somehow dumped Griess on them though. That would have made this splendid.

Can't wait for opening night tomorrow. Oh wait, its still 3 months away, and anything can happen with the roster between now and then. Some people need a little perspective.

You can look back at some of my posts in the game threads, I always complained that this team was super soft with horrible coaching. You can no longer say that about the Isles. They will be tough to play against, AND very well coached. Martin, Clutterbuck and Komarov were all in the top 5 in hits last year. Plus plenty of offense with Barzal, Lee, Eberle, Beauvillier, Bailey, Nelson (I know people hate him, but in a bad year he scored 19 goals), and possibly Bellows or JHS. We had 70+ points from Leddy and Pulock combined, and Pulock just touched the tip of the iceberg.

People are saying we are back to 2008, I call BS on that. Plenty of offensive talent, and now added grit. With Martin and Johnston, people will pay if they take liberties w/Barzal.

If this team gets Lehner and CDH alone with Trotz coaching and a solid bottom 6... they are better than last year, even with Judas is a 2 pump chump with his lady sleeping in the Maple Leaf sheets

Great post. This is all about culture. People need patience. Not Garth Snow's brand of patience, which squandered prime years with inaction. No, this is Lou's patience, where we overhaul the team attitude.
